A ten minute short wouldn't be so bad :) But I don't think a full movie length one would be much good.... I don't think they'd be able to sustain the humour and interest for that long... Unless it was incredibly cleverly written :|

would be fairly ridiculous to have a full feature movie.

I'd pay to see it. Though a feature length movie may be pushing it.

It's worth noting they have a pretty advanced and good looking animation engine that works in real time on a gaming computer. No other animation studio has such a thing, which could lead to interesting results. If they upped the model/texture quality, they could get something very impressive and easy/quick to use.

Another thing worth considering is Steam as a movie distribution service. The infrastructure is there, but they only currently use it for free movies and as such there is no DRM. Adding some Steam DRM and improving the player (adding movie controls) would make it a very viable distribution platform, which they could demonstrate by releasing their own movie on it. The resolution of the movies they release are already 720p (I think), which is a small HD standard, they could quite easily distribute 1080p movies aswell, they could even have the option to download different resolutions for people on slower connections/lacking diskspace. A well DRM'd, popular and high quality movie download system would be very enticing for studios, and could possibly lead to Steam being a bigger multimedia service. Only problem would be letting people use it on their PMPs, but there could be solutions to that, especially as most PMPs now support plugins.

I think it would be a very good interesting decision for Valve to make a movie.

If they made either a 10 minute short or a full feature movie, I'd pay to see it. Valve are always top quality with their TF2 movies and I'm certain they can keep up a good plot and humour for a long time with the characters.
They'll probably get producing when they've finished the Meet the Team series.

I don't think it's a good road to go down tbh.

Considering how long the 'meet the...' shorts take to make I doubt any of us are likely be around to see it. But it could be pretty awesome done right.

After Valve bring out the Jarate for real and announcing Left 4 Dead 2 so soon, I would not put anything past them.

Im not sure where it was said but someone from Valve did mention that we would get TF2 styled comics eventually. Kind of like what was seen in the Sniper/Spy update.
