Hmmm...

Sniper isnt overpowered because the hitbox to get a OHK is pretty small compared to the HUGE MASSIVE GLITCHY Backstab hitbox.... Also, the Sniper's secondary weapon is fairly weak, but his Machete is cool, but no match for the cloak/pistol/knife/disguise combo....

Agreed, it IS annoying when you die out of nowhere with a shot to the leg because they can JUST see you. But if you are out in the open, you have to expect Snipers :/ I guess that applies to spies aswell, but they are just more annoying because they have a HUUUUGE broken hitbox to OHKO you in.

He'll probably get some wierd shotgun or heavier MG maybe :/ Which better provide a health boost otherwise he is going down faaaaast :/

He won't get any close range weapon, he will get another sniper, but it will probably have increased close up damage or something.

IMO the most logical way to get them up close and keep the essence of the sniper intact would be to give them, say a semi auto sniper with more power, reduced range (if range is a factor in TF2), no/reduced scope zoom, lower accuracy with small clips instead of single shot.

Doubt the secondary weapon will be any more powerful than it is now because with the current rifle a sniper would be strong in long and close range, making them overpowered. Maybe another SMG with reduced damage but critical hits slow down the enemy giving you time to retreat or have another crack at them with your rifle?

No idea what any other would be. But some kind of hologram would be cool so spies lose their disguise if they went for the wrong one.

Maybe a radar or something for spies :P But not when they are invisible or something :/

I think the closer range Sniper Rifle might be a good idea.... but it depnds on "how close"... Range is a factor (Though, Ive only come across Baloon Race which is big enough to out range the Sniper). You have to remember though, even with the hologram, unless the Sniper has like something to say "omfg its been hit" he still wont know about a spy :/

what would be pretty awesome imo is if attacking it has a different negative effect for whatever attacked it an attacking spy cant use his stealth, could stop a scout from double jump or makes him as slow as you, disable and reset a medics uber charge for X seconds.

you could charge this up in the same way a medic charges his uber but with damage given.

i highly doubt anything like that will happen but i'd like something to do with the spy. there needs to be some (subtle) defence other than shooting your team >_<

What about if it charges instanly, but can only go to a certain percentage depending on how far away you are, i.e melee range is 200% 2 fort balconny to 2fort balcony is 0%

i was talking about the hologram mentiond on the last page :P but if you want snipers to move in close, i agree, lower the damage with range.

i think my ideas on the last page would work quite well. but i'd probably end up sticking to the existing setup anyhow :P

you should assign that the Sniper is a Hunter.
maybe when you hit the target it bleeds or something and loses slowly his health

imo: the FAN would have been better for the sniper, becuase you could have shoot the enemy back and shoot them with the rifle

Hardly. The backstab hitbox range is quite small. The way facestabs work is when the hitbox is slightly 'ahead' of the actual player's position. The spy in front runs 'through' that hitbox, stabs and the backstab breaches the back of the hit box causing a 'backstab' from the front.

This does unfortunately work both ways, as the model still serves as a physical barrier. It is incredibly frustrating to repeatedly stab at the back of a player only for it to be normal attacks repeatedly that not only alert the enemy player to the fact there is a spy, but it fails to kill them and often results in the death of the spy.

The lag works both ways, I just don't make a fuss about repeated misses.

Shoulder stabs don't come into it then ¬_¬ Which I have had several of recently...

Its still huge broken and glitchy...

I agree with Dragon above actually, a massively damaging close range charge meter, but it gets lower and lower depeding on how far away you are... but also weaker too :)

It seems similar to the sandman, except they have to be next to the wall, it does damage, but replaces the sniper rifle. It will make the sniper get closer, as it will be harder to hit at range.
