Well, simply put, my main laptop battery (I have 2, one 8cell, once 4cell, the 8cell is the one I prefer) is completely broken.

Basically, it gets to ~70% charge then drops right off to 5%.

Anyone have any idea of how to fix this?

Buy a new battery. Or take better care of it (when you get the new one).

Put in a fridge

Or run the PC until it goes totally flat

then recharge it I've saved a few batteries that way

I thought Li-Ion batteries weren't saved this way.

Li-Ion batteries get screwed that way, NiMH and Alkaline get helped that way.

I've heard of the fridge method, though.

New battery is a semi option, but they cost a lot.

I probably will start taking better care, maybe remove them when charged to stop them heating so much

Might also consider an external battery, will probably need more life next year, anyway.


Still open to ideas on recovery, as they're worth a shot.
