Well.. I'm 'officially' fed up of using this computer. It's not just Windows, I have several reasons, but most are because of Windows.

Sure I could move to Linux like I've always wanted to since I had this computer, but the hardware we purchase these days seems to be optimised for the Windows OS, so wouldn't run like I want it to. This is evident when I load up a Live CD. Even AMD's CPU's have Windows-only features, which is good and bad.

Some things about my computer: It's powerful, sure, but it came with a price tag, and the value of the computer keeps falling, so I keep on adding things just to keep with the times, learn new stuff etc. It looks and runs very cool, but it uses a lot of energy, and takes up a lot of my time, money and space. I'm thinking of buying my own place with my girlfriend later this year so we don't want a computer like this taking over my life, more than it already does!

I have had many moments in the past few weeks that have made me wonder why I use Windows and computers at all. I just want to download some freeware to enhance the dull Windows UI, but it's riddled with viruses, pop-ups, spyware, whatever. I've had my AVG AV software go wild with me for the past few days.. and I won't deny that a virus scan seriously takes the performance out of my computer when I need it the most.

Windows is slow and flawed. Windows spends too much time thinking about doing something rather than doing it. I've been using Windows since 3.1 all the way up to XP, and the XP GUI is less than stellar. If there's anybody who knows how to make a successful, easy to use interface that's going to enhance productivity, and keep its consistency through the years, it's going to be the Mac OS.

I'm selling this computer, along with loads of software, legal copy of Windows XP Professional, with the monitor, keyboard and mouse, but without the speakers for ?1500, and with that money, I'm going to purchase a 20" iMac with Intel Core Duo 2GHz CPU, 2GB RAM and 250GB HDD, which currently costs roughly ?1400. My girlfriend will absolutely love using this, and hopefully I will too.

I wouldn't mind a Mac as my second computer, but it would have to be a laptop and I can't afford it. I really like my PC as it runs games. But I want a Mac for the same reasons you do, but not as a replacement, but a cheap secondary thing that is functional for serious purposes.

It's quite a sacrifice to be honest, thinking about losing all these games, all this software, and all this time and money. But I'm not getting anywhere with it... Computers seriously take over my life too much! I work with them as part of my job, and when I get home, it's more of the same. I need a breath of fresh air, if you know what I mean... I want to start up my computer and feel like I really want to do something useful for once.

Right, I'm setting myself a target...

I am going to buy myself a new 20" iMac before the end of next month - Sunday 30th April 2006, whether I sell my current computer or not!

If I don't get anybody interested in buying my computer in the next few days then I'll lower the price of it on the AdTrader.co.uk website and I'll also put it on eBay, I'm pretty much guaranteed a sale on there, right? Even if I am making huge losses - I'd rather not be with this computer for much longer!

You'd be surprised. On Ebay you've just got to make it SOUND good while not actually lying. For example, don't say anything derogatory, give some good 3DMark scores (true, of course) and then say a price people would "expect" to pay in a shop for it, and quote about 200 quid more than what you want. After all, it is well made.... Also, make sure you include all the documentation and component boxes (say you have to request for the latter, maybe higher postage due to more bulk).

I'll just say that the build quality is impeccable, all the software provided is 100% legal, and all software will be provided on optical media.

I can't be bothered with 3DMark scores even if they make it sound better or not.

I'll present it well using my uber webdesign skills and graphic talent! I'll put some lovely high-res photo's of it on there.

I need to wait til 25th March until I register on eBay though, because they request that all members be 18 or over.

Make sure you include all the specs, prefferably in detail, as that makes them think more of it.

Looks like somebody local is interested in my computer but doesn't yet know the specs of it. I've printed 'em a sheet and I'm hoping to get some feedback by the end of today!

Yeah; decided that I can't live without opening up a computer and pleasuring myself.
