I'm thinking of downgrading for the sake of wanting more money.
The downgrade should mean I get the same performance.
I'm thinking of selling the monitor and one graphics card.
What is your opinion of this?
Edit: I will be purchasing a smaller monitor, probably 22" with 1680x1050 resolution.

I really can't comment, it must be fantastic using that stuff, but then if you need the money it might be a good idea to downgrade.

I think the downgrade would be a good idea...although it depends on what you want the money for. If the money will be used on something worth it then downgrade + the downgrade isn't that bad

don't downgrade, unless you need food for instance, if its trivial like say soap (lots of soap he keeps dropping it) then just don't.

OK guys.
Thank you for the feedback so far.
I have listed both of my graphics cards and my monitor on Ebay.
I can buy a replacement monitor and graphics card with the money I get from one graphics card.

I take it you'll be going the HD4870 route?

I revised the listing so it's just one graphics card for sale... there's not much money to be saved if I had to buy a graphics card and a monitor, so I'll be sticking with the 4870X2 for now.
After this it's time to think about whether I want the motherboard...

At this rate you'd be better off scrapping it completely and starting from scratch.

Haha. You can tell what I'm thinking...
Ahh... at least it's nothing compared to the last system. The last system was just one big problem and a huge load of stress. This one isn't so bad. It cost more, but I'm not getting stressed over it.

Update: The monitor sold and is being collected either today or tomorrow. I am now using a 15" screen at home. LOL!

I guess I haven't really thought about what I'll do with it... yeah I suppose I'll save it for something that isn't computer related.

Ugh, problems. This is why I HATE selling on Ebay.
The seller seems to think that the card I sold him is faulty and that he is getting very poor performance out of it. I sent him to a link of my 3DMark06 benchmark and lots of screenshots of the system running fine, and reminded him that there is a no-returns policy on this listing.

Well, I'm doing the friendly thing and saying to him that I can initiate an RMA with Overclockers UK on his behalf. That way they can identify where the fault is (if there is one), repair/replace if required then return the card to him.

Or it is working fine and he wants to make a quick buck while keeping the card.

Well, he would not get a refund until I received it back.
