Microsoft have made a rating program built into vista to see how suited a system is to running Vista efficiently, i have found some results from these and they are very shocking:

The rating system is in 6 steps, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6+ the higher your system, the better it'll run Vista, and you need around a 4-5 for M$ to say, now that'll run vista efficiently IIRC.

So, better start getting faster components, even you GR!

That "test 2" system is one of the fastest you can build! Sure, the processors not THE fastest, but it's close, and the GFX card is high end. Basically MS are saying that you need a top of the range system in a years time to run it properly.

yep, unless microsoft lower the bar or if that test 2 system i found was a fake, ill just see what my pc comes up with once ive finished installing

Well it's similar to the spec of one of your PCs (but you don't have 1GB RAM, do you?).

I don't think Vista will be *that* demanding. I read stuff about this on the Inquirer website almost every day. Microsoft are keeping the recommended specs and hardware requirements pretty secret at the moment -- nobody knows what hardware will be compatible now that will run Vista in the future.

Still, I've heard it's going to need a 3D graphics card, which is a first for OSes, AFAIK.

I did have a copy of the Beta, which would only install 50 something percent, which was apparently one of the issues with the beta :/

It had some sort of problem with my system, and I haven't tried it since.

From what I've been seeing about Vista, I'm almost definitely not getting it. It's a peice of jumped up mega-hyped sh*t.

I'll probably get it as soon as it is released.

Yeah, true. It just makes me angry the way MicroSoft manipulates everything.

well they were suprised originally, but all the illegal stuffs always been with their nt based oses, people have always been ok to pay for 9x oses, but not xp and other nt based ones

Microsoft promote illegal copying of their software because it is REDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE!!!

Yeah, why don't they sell it at the cost of a game. Sure, it may take longer to program (but current games are well...), but loads of people buy it as it is integral to their system.
