well why not create and open area forum that is simalar to the ones we already have but base them on the idea of aa msn chat room.

dunno how it would work or even it ia acctualy plausable but it would be a cool idea, at least i think it would be good.

I have seen an "open to all" unmoderated live board before, which is basically a huge chat where you can use any name. Personally, I do not like these, as they can cause problems.

It may, however, be possible to create a small, probably flash based, app where you login with your site username/pass and talk to anyone else who has done the same by choosing them from a list of users. I will look into it. Could possibly be a talk to everyone area aswell.

Everyone has an MSN account, right? Heck, we all love MicroShaft.

I'm afraid some people are restricted to what they can use on the internet and stuff. So if we could get this working, it would be great.

Also, it means we don't have to give out email addresses if we want to chat with someone.

Well, I just looked into it and it certainly seems very possible.

how hard would it be to create and how would you make it a safe area for login users only.

would the mesages appear on screen in the little boxes like we have now or will it actual be like msn were the mesages just appear one after the other

It would be using your username and password in a flash animation, and that would be checked with the MySQL database (what stores the forum information).

Apart from logging in, it would be a completely seperate flash program similar in stye to MSN. It would probably have a huge conversion where everyone is part of and options to start private chats with people. Diffent convos would be opened in "tabbed" windows, meaning there are a seriesof buttons along the top. I would probably try and add alerts aswell. Because it is flash it would run within your browser and wouldn't need downloading.

Yeah, got something else to sort out first, though.

In my suggestion you should make it just one simple board. You should be able to easily make it so you can send private messages or messages to everyone through the board. So only the right people can see it. I have seen it done before and it works pretty well.

Well you can already send private messages. We're looking at making an instant messaging board.

It will be just like an online flash show, no installation necessary (in fact, it will only work on the sight).

It can be done in flash, trust me.

Oh, and please note, I've got some other stuff to do before this, so it may not be available for a while.

I doubt I would be alowed to use this.

However, howavout having it so that you could use microphones to talk to each other.

Use text to say you want a microphone link with a user(s), then once both (or more) users have done this you can have a private conversation between users.

Also, have the password option so that if you want a user to join the conversation, you PM them the password. Or, you could make it a 'free for all conversation.

It would be just the sam as viewing a flash animation.

The "password option" is to access the "chat room" in total, and it would just be like logging onto the forum, so only registered users could enter the chat room. Then you just click on a logged in users name then they would click accept (a new brainwave) to start the convo.

Sound would be really hard, maybe as another option.

what about a java irc applet?

They are messy. Also, they do not allow individual chat, IIRC.
