Right, sorry need the rant.

I have a gamertag, oh noes I've fallen into the pits of eternal darkness. No, not really I just needed it to play FlatoutUC for some retarded reason. I think the point is so microsoft can make more money. What is the point?

Oh, I've signed up, do I want to pay more so my name can have a background in some really bad yellow colour? I don't think so. What is the point in paying that much money for some crap, and oh yeah, its a free service (for me it is) so I can spend money to change my username :O - yeah, its cheaper for me to buy my game again, so if that was the case I might as well just sell it. I'm sorry is all games supposed to become a MMO?

I can talk to my Xbox friends ingame. Aww, how nice for me, how about they get a pc instead and actually be able to communicate. Also, I need to be in the stupid game for that to work, so that ideas down the bog too.

Voice chat in game, oh its automatically calculated so my speaker volume is higher than the trigger, well done idiots.

The service has been down countless times. It took me a couple of days to unlock the "first cup" achievement, now that is seriously taking the piss.

Oh, I can take out Windows LIVE but then I can't play online, what is the point, the previous ones didn't need it, infact it works quite well. Again, what I'm expected to pay for a service I don't even bloody want, oh well done.

It's buggy as, its pointless, and oh yea, I personally want to kill everyone single bloody xbox and xbox360 owner for making this so popular that us pc users are now forced to endure this pointless crap.

Apparently I'm not elite enough because my screen does not do HD according to the XL noobs, 1680x1050 oh noes isnt 1080 which oh wait, the 360 only does interlaced, which halves it (540), and doesn't look too right with this generation television technology, personally the 360 and windows live is the "i cant be <LOOK MA, I AM SWEARING> to think" thing of not only this generation, but every one where the stupid service forces things to go wrong. Not that I am against unification of stuff, it can just be done sooooo much better. Microsoft take a leaf out of VALVe's book, because they can do stuff right, if they came out with a console, I bet you anything you wouldn't need to buy games.

CD protection, now don't get me started at that.

This is the condensed version of this rant, I would like comments and then maybe the full version might come out.

It certainly is a load of shit. But Steam was also really bad when it came out.

I had similar issues with Gears of War on the PC. The service was rubbish.

THankfully they've realised that PC users will refuse to pay extra for more multiplayer features (you had to when GoW came out), so they've removed that now.

If they start trying to download PC users for more maps and such, they they really are digging their own grave.

You are right, Steam is a much better service, and has better games. Personally I think that every game should end up on Steam (and integrated into it, so you need Steam and therefore all the DRM crap goes away, as Steam has acceptable and effective DRM).

But yeah, my experience with GFWL was also terrible, buggy at my end, terrible service at their end.
