Basically -- the stuff that's coming after the Radeon X1800XT 512MB, the Geforce 7800GTX 512MB and the Physx... Here's an interesting article on ATI's next development: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2574 , and here's an article on Nvidia's next development: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/10/05/nvidia_g72_launch/
While I was browsing, I found something that I thought you might like, Grim: http://www.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20051004/index.html

Oooh, nice. That mobo would be great if you could run 4 GPUs in SLI, but it is currently limited. Think of the 3D power of 4 7800GTX 512s running in SLI! *drools*!

Of course, you'd need 2 hi-power PSU's to keep em totally stable. Oh, and really really good cooling.

Hmm, couple of Tagans and some watercooling should solve that problem. In a Cooler Master Stacker (origional one, not revised) for the space.
Oooh, I wish I could afford that....

Ooooh, quad cores....
Anyway, if you look at the roadmap pictures, you can see they are planning to use DDR2 next year, then the year after move to DDR3.

Where those pictures of a press roadmap? How out of date is the public roadmap?

Wait.. just checked the AMD site and they have updated it (since last week!!)
Also, here is a very interesting article on the Nvidia memory controller in the new 7800GTX cards: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=27763

Haha, lol, you post about 1GB ATI, then nVidia come and double that! Though I'm not sure I want more GDDR3 than DDR!

If you read the article, ATI claim they can have more than 1GB also. :?)
I'd definitely want more everything! The technology is available so we may as well do ourselves a favour and use it rather than in years and years of it already being there to use.

Oh yeah, so it does.
But, when the extra memory is worth it, the core will be too slow!

I'm sure they'd bodge it up a tad to cope. I'm expecting to see ATI come forward with some new developments quicker than they have in recent months (probably due to them doing too much work for uncle Bill). The problem with their R5 design was that when a memory frequency above 500MHz was applied, a certain part of memory returned a 0 where it should return a 1. Just one little itty bit. But they solved it in the end, quite late on. The full story is on Guru3d.com, plus a nifty review. So, maybe we can see a 2GHz GDDR3 card from ATI soon? Or maybe a GDDR4? I know the ATI core clocks can be pushed pretty high, there was an article on their website about how it broke the 1GHz barrier :O

Repeat most of what you said, replacing ATI with nVidia, and you'd have my thoughts.

No, I wouldn't be. I said "most" so the specific ATI stuff isn't include, but the general "...rules" is true for nVidia.

Nope, I'm afraid (for you, not me) it's right. Anyway, I thought you weren't doing any more nVidia vs ATI arguments anymore?

Ah well, I'm not in to the childish bickering any more... I just preach factual information from now on. :D

Sice when is [quote:ed3c86cf7b="azcn2503"]That is still wrong! Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.[/quote:ed3c86cf7b] not being childish?
Anyway, it isn't factual evidence, either.

Read this article if you dare. It is about the new ATI chipset. Wipe the smile!!

Nope, just makes me smile more. Just shows how the market work - every month an announcement from rival companies announcing something that is better than the other companie's last announcement.
So this is no surprise.
Something that will make you quiver, though, is that the XBox 360 apparantly has an unreleased ATI graphics chipset in it. Still won't compete with the desktops though, it has next to no GDDR! (while it isn't everything, you need enough to compete)

Consoles suck, and should be made exempt from this forum (this is the Computers bit).
Of course it comes as no surprise, but it shows that ATI haven't dwindled, like everybody seemed to think. I wouldn't doubt them though :)

I know, it's just that I think that the chipset was called the R580... I know it's a future desktop chip.
You should also knowthat it is now less than a month until nVidia's next announcement... ;)
