I agree with you there, a lot of systems are able to achieve 5.9 now. They should increase it to 10 or something. It would be interesting to see where this system falls back, from Microsoft's point of view.

They did say they were going to update it at some point (hence such a weird number) but they haven't, and it's easy to get a high score on a gaming desktop.

That's some seriously low temp, it's around room temp :/

You going to stress test it at all to see what it goes up to?

I think I'll just leave it now. My girlfriend is really happy with what I have made for her.

And yes, this room is extremely cold.

Ah, that might explain the incredibly low temp. I can understand around 35-40 in a normal room, but anything less is just insane, lol.

I can believe the temperatures that the software is reporting... when I open the system and touch the CPU heatsink, it is barely warm. The air being exhausted out the back of the system is lukewarm. I think the air coming out of the power supply is a little warmer than anything else. The graphics card sometimes blows out warm air, but I've never felt hot air coming out the back, unlike my previous system which used to churn hot fire out of the side... It must have been the ambient temperatures from the 8800 Ultra causing that.

You're probably right there, just to be that low, I wouldn't believe it from a normal temp room, but one a bit cooler than normal would make sense. I guess it could be that low if not being used and has those use reduction things running.

What size is it? 24" would be my guess, if not, 20".

It's a Dell 2208WFPt Limited Edition 22 inch ;)
It has a 1680x1050 like most other widescreen 20 inchers.
All the games I have tested run fine at this native resolution, but I haven't tried Crysis yet.

Aww, dammit, I thought it looked a bit too big to be 20" but not quite 24", didn't remember they did a 22"!

I would imagine Crysis will run pretty nice on High. Very High is anyone's guess.

Very High struggled on my system running at 1280x800.

Also... this system can be built for just under £1200 including the monitor, keyboard and mouse. I'm quite proud!

Could save a fair bit of money on the case/PSU in that list, too (though you got the wrong case, it says Cosmos on that list).

Yeah, the Wavemaster has been discontinued by Coolermaster, and the 900W was the only BZ series available in the first week of its release when I purchased it.

The power supply was actually purchased for my last machine, so it had to be able to support 2x 8800 Ultra's if I ever wanted a second.

Well personally I'd get a different PC, but that's just choice.

Not a bad price, overall, bit more than I expected it to be, though. Then agian, most the prices I've looked at recently have missed bits off (like peripherals, screen etc).

I know, you'd get an Nvidia system

Anyway, the system was pretty much right on the budget! And for the price, the performance is incredible. I'll go for the same type of components in my next system, but go for a CrossfireX type configuration.

I'm sorry, but, Nvidia have really gone downhill in my estimations. The 9 series graphics cards are absolutely rubbish compared to the 8 series. They're even using the same chips (G92 as used in the new 8800GTS), they've just rebranded them as a 9 series. The 9800GTX and GX2 are extremely hot running chips and draw too much power. AMD have really won in this area, but obviously they don't have the performance crown.

LOL, that was actually mean to say case! I would probably get an nVidia, but from what I've seen, they are better/equal, so it doesn't make much difference. However, we haven't seen much new stuff lately, and the 9 series aren't that good, I agree.

And, for about £100 more than I spent on this PC...

I could get a system with 2x HD3870X2's with a Blu-ray ROM and DVD-RW/CD-RW drive. QuadFire with Hi Def films! Great gaming and great film watching!

It's because I already own a good keyboard, mouse and monitor.

If I were actually to watch a Blu-ray film though, I'd probably sell the 3007WFP and go for the 3008WFP... Or maybe even downgrade to a 2408WFP so I could play Crysis at native resolution!

Edit: Oh dear, I'm already talking about a new computer...

I was just thinking here we go again.

How much do blu-ray players cost nowadays, anyway?

Ah, still a bit steep for me (considering I don't have anything to use with it).

Chances are they won't fall to the price of DVD drives until a new technology comes out to replace Blu-ray.

Heh, well they will drop to around £40 or less when they become popular.
