The grip with the four fret buttons

Image

which plugs into the GBA slot and allows you to play not quite like holding a guitar but close enough XD you also use the stylus as a pick. Songs list is still to be confirmed but is said to feture bands like Nirvana, No doubt, and OK Go this is already looking like a little gem.

Watch this video on Youtube.

So what do u think?

Interesting, but seems like a cash in to me.

Also - it's easier than the other guitar hero games, one less button (I think).
It won't work in the original DS due to the shape of the button thing.

It just won't work. It will use the GBA connectors, which are at the bottom of the slot, and the lite has a shallower slot than the original, so the connectors won't reach at all. Unless they include some way of changing it, but I doubt that.

Ipersonally think it would be a bad idea to alienate a large proportion or potential buyers by doing this. I think the thickness of the 2 different DSes is the same, just the depth of the slot. They could easily include swappable plugs (one for the DS, one for the Lite) to make it fully compatible.

No, I mean the Guitar Hero expansion thing could have GBA slot parts of changeable lengths, so it wouldn't be Nintendo's doing, but the game maker's.

mmmm still too much money wasted if the majority of people owning a ds have a Lite version. maybe they hope to sell more lites this way

Personally i don't think it would be too much for them to do that, it's only a little extra plastic and a slightly better design. Also, the makers of GH have no interest selling more lites, they make no profit from it.

What I would like to know is why they missed out the 5th fret of all the other GH games? It makes no sense.

LOL ok

i have no idea why they missed out the 5th fret, tbh it looks complicated enough with just 4 XD. I have never played a GH game ever but it does look really really gd. The DS version wont be able to hold as many songs on it cus it hasnt got that much memory compared to disks.

Considering the current state of flash memory, it would be quite easy for it to hold just as much as a regular DVD, though I'm not sure what the costs to them would be. That depends on if there are limits on the DS chip, though.

Also, the 5th fret was used for "extreme" mode on the normal games, meaning you only used it if you wanted a challenge. Still, not having it means there will be less challenge for those that want it.

mmm dont know i think there is a limit on the DS cartridges, it can only hold so much, and say 50 songs would take up quite a large amount not to mention save data and the rest of the game. :s

LOL well tbh i think over coming the control is going to be a challenge in its self, in all honesty the grip could stll be changed.

Physically, it could hold huge amounts, being that you can easily have 8GB SD cards now, and they're smaller than DS carts. However, tehre's probably a soft limit in the DS software.

I agree, the controls do look quite awkward.

OMG

It looks a mess... Very bad mess :( Controlling a guitar cross handed like that? Not going to be confusing at all :/

The fat DS is a lot wider than the Lite too... :/ If that control panel loops around, I have no idea how it'll fir correctly onto either DS :/ Would be quite fun to see if you could play other games with it though like you can with the actual guitar on the PS or 360 XD

That's an interesting point about wether those buttons will just replace some standard buttons. Could make things easier.
