Pretty boring this week so far for updates... Nothign about Lucario yet... :/

We had some info on the Stage builder and 2 stages. A very classic Super Mario stage and a smexy Emerald Hill Zone stage from Sonic.

Anyway, been messing about on Melee, and Ive decided I might try to keep a record of my exploits on Brawl updated here and on Youtube. Ill do some profile videos too, With all the starter characters and stuff :) Make it really interesting and possibly something to add onto the new site (if it EVER gets done :P)

I might also do a swansong video for Melee, but that will take ages! XD Ill start some more Melee videos after half term, hopefully with much better editing than the one I did yesterday and managed to upload today (after much frustration).

Watch this video on Youtube.

I'm Ness as is explained :) Happy Watching!

Yeah, if it ever gets done.
You may consider using game diaries, though. Mr. game and Watch makes me laugh for some reason.

Si edit: I made a mistake, and I believe you might see the mistake has been fixed, don't flame me plaese

Mr G&W is AWESOME! I'll do a vid playing as him next I think now :)

Image

Luigi is back and looks better than ever.

The younger brother of Mario, his skills are somewhat different. His slimmer frame lets him jump higher and run much faster. His Super Jump Punch does incredible damage at the very instant the jump starts, but after that, only one % of damage is caused.

His Final Smash seems to be one of utter confusion. Making foes do a number of random things as they transverse into "The Negative Zone". Inverted colours and increased knockback are the main traits... But the bubble also has some other interesting additions...

* Drastically reduced attack power
* Greater launch distance when hit
* Increased likelihood of slipping
* Steady increase in damage percentage
* Flower growth on head
* Dizziness
* Uncontrollable taunting
* Sudden sleepiness
* Decreased movement speed

Looks pretty sweet for ruining chains and getting some cheap KO's! While maybe not powerful, used tactically, this move could be one the FS's better suited to Team Matches.

So, with around 3 weeks remaining to US launch... (15 updates) we still have 9 more characters to come :) Looks like a pretty action packed time!

My post was edited...

You need to update your sig now ;)

Anyway, as I said before, his FS, IMO, is one of the coolest around, with all the funky negative effects and stuff.Looks fairly potent, too, if used correctly.

Nah, really needs to be in the sig ;)

By mains, I assume you mean characters that you will use mainly?

(P.S. Watch it with the excessive casual swearing...)

Oh :lol: Fine

Today was Luigi's Mansion... Looks pretty sweet if you ask me!

Image

Hit the pillars, and the mansion falls down! Kinda cruel to Luigi yes, but the Mansion rebuilds itself after a certain amount of time anyway! :D

Unlocked by playing a pretty simple 3 Brawl as Luigi... Seems too easy at the mo to unlock stuff....

Yeah, "Mains" is the general term for the people who you will often end up playing if you have a free choice. However, some people have "random" as main on other websites... Which is pretty interesting as they won't know who they are playing as until the match begins!

They might just be showing us the easy to unlock stuff first. Typically a game will have a wide range of unlockable stuff, so I'd imagine it gets much harder. They are probably showing the easier stuff as it is less spoilerish.

Anyway, the stage looks pretty fun and fairly chaotic aswell. The destruction should make things interesting.

YAY!

More information on the Ice Climbers. Seeing as they work as a pair, sticking together is the biggest tactic :D (Other than desynching, which is difficult, but usually works when applied right. It when you split the IC's on purpose)

Image

Popo is the blue one, Nana the pink. I don't have any info on it yet, But this time round I don't think they change whos leading. In Melee, during the colour swaps, Popo and Nana would swap places... However I do not think this happens on Brawl. I think Popo leads all the time. This is their B Up special move; The Belay. It gains incredible height, and no one can work out where you will land! Also, I've been hearing that it also acts as a tether recovery, when one IC lands, it will turn around and help the other to climb onto the ledge! The Ice Climbers can also both edge hold at the same time. Its also pretty good for Super Sudden Death too ;) With one IC this move is pretty much useless, and you'll be attempting to get back with their Side B; The Squall Hammer

Image

This gives a lot of horizontal distance, and aa added bonus in the form of hitting B rapidly increases the IC's height in the air! Its almost turned into Donkey Kongs B Up! :D The Ice Climbers also keep Blizzard and Ice Shot from Melee with few changes.

We also had more information on Zelda's special moves....

Obviously, Nayru's Love, Din's Fire and Farore’s Wind make the core of special attacks. Nayru's Love (if timed well) can act just like Fox's reflector, and bounce a laser move back at its firer! This works for the Ray Gun, Super Scope (as in the image below), Fox's and Falco's blasters, Samus' CHarge Shot and probably some other stuff!

Image

Din's Fire is Zelda's primary long distance move. Holding B down after launching the move wil allow you to aim with it... When its powerful enough, it will explode in a very powerful ball of fire.

Image
Look! The range on this move is collossal!

Farore’s Wind is Zelda's B Up special. Much horizontal distance can be gained with this move. It is one of the best Triple Jumps in the game. Farore’s Wind could be faster than running on the flat! Zelda travels in a dead stragith line when using this move, so if there is stage in the way, she will collide with it! If it's not a ledge.... You have no other way of getting onto the stage!

Image

Of course, Sheik's moves are different to this. Her B Up is much shorter, and her B Specials are slightly different. She fires arrows and has a chain whip. B down is still transform, which could limit their playstyles....

The Ice Climbers are looking very interesting this time round. It seems like a lot more emphasis has been put on keeping them both alive. I like the way their short range moves work in both directions.

Zelda's moves look pretty powerful, too. That range is pretty incredible, though it's effectiveness will depend on it's speed, as it will be quite easy to dodge at range if it only travels in a straight line.

Falco makes a welcome return to the Brawl... He now differs from Fox more greatly than in Melee, having slightly different smash and special moves. The core of his special moves are still similar. Fire Bird is almost the same as the Fire Fox, with slightly more range, but less offensive power. His Reflector acts very differently to Fox's, being kicked away from him at an opponent. I do not know if this reflector is able to be held on like Fox's. Falco Phantasm looks equally good this time around, being similar to Fox's Fox Illusion. However, from what Sakurai says, it damages yourself, and can lead to a Self Destruct!

His Landmaster Tank is much better at aeiral combat than Fox's. It has much less offensive power, but is much more manuverable. Looks just as good as always, one of the higher tiered characters from Melee. Still looks excellent!

(Even tho hes a clone and there is also a clone of a clone ¬¬)

Thing is, Skillers, only the player controlling Din's Fire will know where it is going. IIRC it dissappears in transit... So it could reappear anywhere! And it doesnt travel in a stright line either... :/

Hmm, there seems to be quite a lot of inherently similar characters, tbh, I was expecting more diversity. Ah well, flying tanks are always good fun!

I guess we'll just have to see how Din's Fire plays out, I guess. If it is hard to dodge at range, it will be pretty powerful.

Falco looooks soooo much beetter now! i like him :) I HATE fox with a burning passion so Falco will be my lead Star fox player (im not going to even bother mentioning wolf). I like his landmaster looks alot easier to control than foxes. Sakurai said hes the best jumper in the game so taht good hes not going to be redicuously fast like fox which is also a bonus. I like the idea of his reflector being able to be used as an attack. not really bothered about his Phantasm majig never used it XD but the fact that it damages you :s kinda going to put me off from using it. Fire bird as a Up b move is no different tho they could have called it Phoenix or something sounds much classsier :P Otherwise a gd update :)

About the previous updates Sakurai mentioned that the ice climbers are only good when there are two. Asi found out on tuesday agaisnt DHR, NANA is a right COW! shes never near when u want to belay. Its alright in saying stay close together but when nana runs off its hard, very hard. I hope theyve made it so that she doesnt wander off this time round.
Zeldas moves are the same as before i hope they are alot more powerful than in melee. Looking at the range of Dins Fire i should say they have :) Still going to use Sheik tho :P

From what I gathered in the Ice Climber update, it looks like they stay together better this time, but still not perfectly. Any improvement is welcome, though. I liked playing IC on melee when I played it, so if they're going to work better, that's awesome!

Erm, I might do. I would say I'll see what everyone thinks, but that much is already obvious. I might play it on someone else's console/copy first, and see how I like it.

Ah, haven't played melee for a while. I'm kinda impulsive with game buying anyway, so I'll take it how I feel, lol.

He won't get it.

Anyway.

Today is some stuff about Meteor Smashes, anmd Bowsers special moves.

Metoer Smashes are moves that only certain people have. They differ to spikes.

Meteor Smashes are mainly aerial moves. I do not know of yet whether Spikes and meteor Smashes are going to be classed as the same thing in Brawl. Essentially, both Metoer Smashes and spikes hit the opponent vertically downward. Usually to their doom. As we know from today, Mario's FAir (Foward Air) is a Metor Smash. I know from Melee however, that Link's Sword Stab (His Down Aerial or DAir) is a Spike, as it does the same thing in knocking the opponent downward, but Link's move is not classed by the game as a Meteor Smash.

I'll have top either have my own board or make some other threads for advanced tactics and abbreviations, they'd get lost in here... :/

Bowser's new B Smash move changes from the Bowser Claw, to the Flying Slam. Still essentially a grab, Bowser grabs an opponent leaps into the air and then slams them back down underneath his massive bulk... From what Sakurai says... A new form of self suicide will come into play... :/ Just like Kirbycide (Where he grabs and then jumps off the edge with an opponent) Bowsercide could become a popular KO method...

Hmm, could you recover from spikes in melee? It looks like these meteor smashes are pretty powerful, and probably won't be recoverable until stopped on solid group, from what I can tell. If spikes were recoverable, then they might both be in, and that could be the difference?

No... But you could recover from Meteor Smashes... :/ It doesnt make a lot of sense... Basically most of the DAir moves are spikes, but only a few moves are actually counted as MS'... :/

Today was finally the return of Captain Falcon.

Hopefully still with all the speed and power from Melee. The now legendary Falcon Punch also makes a wonderful return, looking as powerful and beautiful as ever. There is also the new and slightly more powerful Reverse Falcon Punch where you pull a 180 as you are about to throw! This should keep players well on their toes.

As you can expect, Captain Falcon and Fox were the fastest players in Melee... but now Sonic has arrived, even Falcon has been left behind... His incredible power will still be an asset not wasted by good players however. His Final Smash also looks incredible. The Blue Falcon races onto the stage and he does a flying ram in it... Finally a good use of a almost core part of Falcon's personality.

A true Brawler too, being one of the Original "Untouchable" 12....

He looks like a pretty powerful character, I like the reverse punch...

His FS is interesting, being a cinematic. Looks like it's garunteed to do damage to everyone if it first hits, I'd guess.

And ywah, the forum was slow.
