At long range never use the shotgun, even the SMG (burst fired) and pistol are better...

Also, the double blast often has more spread and doesn't quite do as much damage as 2 separate blasts.

Meh still would work if you got nothing better.. As I said :/

well you said to never use the shotgun at long range after I said "Better bet at long range too I suppose if you got nothing better."

How dumb do you think I am? Shotgun should be last on the list of weapons to use at long range. But it CAN work when you need it too. It may sperate alot but it usually hits a couple more enemies at a time and a shotgun is still insanely powerful.

Out of all the weapons i got on HL2 so far the only one I bothered using at long range was the pistol.. and magnum thingy. Whatever you call it.

Well yeah, but when if I was left with just a shotgun I probably wouldn't bother attacking anything at range, especially as it would waste what precious little ammo you would have left.

The pistol is alright at range, the magnum is incredible, it's perfectly accurate, use your suit's zoom as a scope. The AR2 (which you may not have got yet, you get it in Nova Prospekt IIRC) is a great gun, and it's pretty damn accurate aswell.
