LOL, OK. It would be interesting to see cutting up done properly, with proper and random lines cut through....

Random lines? You want precise lines as to what your hitting :/
Random would be ZOMG I DASHED UP YOUR LEGS AND YOUR HEAD HAS A CUT ON IT.

By random I mean not the same every time, like if you cut a zombie in half in HL2, it's always the same place, but with random lines you may cut from shoulder to waist or straight down the middle etc. Of course it would correspond to your attack animation.

Lol I know. The zombie thing on HL2 I found dumb because I aimed at head and their body was cut in half...

Yeah, but quite often it's so frantic you won't notice, and it requires much less resources (just tell it to load the 2 half corpse models and delete the old one, rather than calculating where to create cuts).

My opinion on the game dropped when i saw that. I thought the graphics were really good. Although it is old now that just seemed insanely retarded...
I suppose it stops it lagging a little but it made it kinda retarded.

To accurately cut models in half takes a lot of resources, that just weren't available to HL2. I think they did a pretty good job of masking it though, with the traps in Ravenholm being the right height and it being too fast to notice sometimes. I guess they could have added another one for removing the head, would make it look better.
