OMG THIS GAME IS LOOKING SMOOTH AS AS GALAXY BAR!!! AND OH SO TASTIER!! Wii owners will havbe known about this game for a while now as it was supposed to be launch game for he wii but was delayed. Ninty recently relased a new wii channel: Metroid Prime 3: Preview channel which contains videos from the upcoming game giving you info on characters etc. The control scheme will be making full use of the motion sensing glory that is the wiimote! Shooting has never been so easy. For those who have played the 1st two games will know the basci drift of the story so far. For those who havent:
PRIME:
Samus recieved urgents distress signal form planet Tallon IV. This planet was once home to the Chozo (bird like creature). They died out when a asteroid smashed into the planet brining with it a harmful substance with high energy levels (blue in colour known as Phazon) Bringing enemies known as Space Pirates who were harvesting it. Your mission destroy the space pirates and find the origin of the Phazon. In this game you find the source and Fight Metroid Prime, during a cut scene he attacks you and takes your DNA (u dont know this) after you destroy him you leave with your mission complete but little do you know it has just begun. If you complete the game with (i think) 100% you see a cut scene after the credits showning the remains of Metroid Prime bubbling a hand shoots out of the middle and zooming in on an eye.
ECHOES:
This game you start off with receiving anotehr distress signal this time coming from Aether.
You travel through the atmosphere of Aether when your ship is struck by lightning damaging it. While your ship is fixing itself you go off to explore and find out that another meteor struck this planet causing it to split into two dimensions; one of light the other of dark (which has poisonous atmosphere) You find a lone survivor of the Luminoth (species that populated the planet) who asks for your help to restore light to Aether and destroy the Ing. Space Pirates are also here being helped by a mysterious figure known as the Dark Hunter (It looks exactly like Samus except the suit is black and visor is blue. this is Metroid Prime reborn in a form similar to samus from her forcefully taken DNA from 1st game) Dark Samus can alternate between dark aether and light aether with the help of portals she is havesting the phazon for some purpose (of which i am not sure) You restore light to aether and desrtoy Dark Samus (or have you???) You leave the planet.
CORRUPTION: ove i havent palyed this game yet so im not sure what happens but general jist Dark Smaus returns and Samus has been infected with Phazon and its corrupting her your mission destroy phazon and dark samus once and for all and find a cure to phazon before the time runs out (i think).

THIS WILL BE MASTERPEICE OF A GAME and for all Wii-owners this is a must have!
The Prime series will deffo go out with a BANG.

Metroid Prime 3 does look excellent. Seeing as we've known about this game since the Summer last year (It was one of the games that was uber delayed from being a launch title) it should be extra smooth and very well done. I can't wait to have a rematch with Meta Ridley and meet the other Hunters in the Corruption story.

yeah mario galaxy being delayed as well that coming out soon as well the graphics on that look smmmmmmoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooth

I am looking forward to this a lot, the controls should be interesting, being an FPS on the Wii, with lots of people saying they're done better than other efforts.

2 more videos on the MP3 channel now, Defense Drone (A boss battle) and one about Ghor...Who looks like a giant robot you have to kill....hey look like the second and third major bosses to be honest, health bar is fairly small...and weapons relatively basic too.

Both are interesting, new Morph Ball weaponry in the one, and tactics are integral in the second.

Looks like GHOR is another Hunter...To help u finish the mission...SO why would you have to fight him?! Rundas (Who you also have to fight) and Gandrayda are also other Hunters...whether Gandrayda will sruvive or not I wouldnt want to guess....But seeing as we have to fight Ghor and Rundas....You never know.

Omega Ridley looks like the next video...We've already had a Meta Ridley video...O.o

Hmm, interesting, I might have to get those videos, or look for them on the internet.

Who's Ridley? Just another hunter?

Ridley is one of the most well known Metroid Enemies...Samus has fought Ridley in pretty much every game so far. Ridley is a project by the Space Pirates (The main antagonists) to create the perfect sentry guard. However, when the original Ridley was destroyed by Samus, Meta Ridley was created.

Classic Ridley:



Kinda like a dragon. phenominal power and defensive capabilities. These were both upgraded when he was morphed into Meta Ridley, with the addition of bomb launchers, rockets, flamethrowers and improved melee combat from its metal exoskeleton.



That pic is from the fight on Metroid Prime against Meta Ridley. That person is in much better health parameters etc than i was at that point...Id alreayd lost quite a lot of health and was Wave Busting him at that point tbh...XD

I havent seen any images of Omega Ridley as of yet however....

Anyway, wouldn't the most well known enemy be the flying facehugging blob things? (AFAIK, they are the actual metroids?)

Ah yes...the pesky little <I AM INSULTING PEOPLE> to which the games are named after...Metroids.



Pretty much like headcrabs...except they suck out your life force...so you die with no injuries at all.

And the bringer of them all:



Metroid Prime itself....This is its hard shelled exoskeleton form, it has a more phasmical existence which is more Metroid like, and can only be damaged in the above form by the particular weapon that corresponds to the colour of its skin, and in the phasmical mode, only to the Phazon beam....

There seems to be a lot of things that like your face... Facehuggers (Alien), Metroids (Metroid) and Headcrabs (Half Life), and I'm sure there's more...

So are the metroid games about defeating metroids or the space pirates?

Hmm, I just though, if it's defeating the Metroids with space pirates as a distraction it's like Half Life - defeat Xen while these military shoot at you. If it's the other way round it's like HL2 - defeat the combine while the zombies wail at you. Yes that was completely random and quite pointless.

Infact, its niether of those Skillers...The Prime story revolves around Phazon. A radioactive substance that mutates and kills anything it comes into contact with. In Prime, Samus gained the Phazon suit when you killed the Omega Soldier (Who has ben mutated and changed with Phazon enhancement) and it fell on you. The suit however, only protects you from the weaker Blue Phazon, not the far more dangerous yellow Phazon. The Leviathan Seeds carry huge deposits of Phazon. One of these crashed into Tallon IV (where Prime is played out) and into Aether (Where Echoes is played out). It becomes Samus' mission to destroy the Leviathan seeds and stop the Phazon.

The Space Pirates want it for its mutagen properties. In Prime they had started to unlock its mutagenic ways and had started creating soldiers and units that were Phazon enhanced.

To be honest, I have no idea how the Metroids are related to it, but to me it seems that the Leviathan seeds (and from that the Phazon) somehow spawn the Metroids...

Well they kinda sound like asteroids, and typical Sci-Fi dictates that asteroids carry aliens.

READ! I put it on of the posts I made earlier that it was released today...I don't know how much of it will be understood by people who havent played Prime or Echoes however...

Hmm, I think I may get this, not straight away, though. Looks like it will be fun even if I don't get the story, lol.

I know its kinda bumping but... borrowed this game... only 15% way through but oh well... it is brilliant, the whole thing is just done so well, the controls are so intuitive, and theyve used the remotes capability so well i reckon.

Also I like the way that it is linear but each bit is such a challenge in itself, that once youve done it you feel like youve done so much, even if it is just get into the next room.

It's linear? Hunters on the DS seemed semi-freeform to me, you could choose your path a bit, and go back to places with better weapons later.

Anyway, how through the main game are you? I think the % is just how much you've done, and you can complete it without getting 100%.

No, the % is how much hes scanned and recorded... I got 100% on Metroid Prime the original... That was tough going.

Corruption seems much more difficult... when i have time and money I think ill be picking up a copy tbh...
