Anyway, you could probably build a half decent comp for £300 for just the box now. It would play most games at decent settings. £500 for a pretty nice system.

If you want a console because they are cheap, you may want to consider trying to build a PC on a budget. It is quite easy (I can think of modern budget/mid range hardware that will fit in budget). To do a gaming PC you spec a cheap Dual Core, 1 or 2GB of RAM and a decent graphics card. For about £300-400 you could specify a pretty good gaming PC, but would need a separate mouse/keyboard/monitor/speakers.

I'm pretty sure Pank is looking into the future for saying the PS3....If you look ahead to the game sthat are coming to it, its got a pretty dam good line up for online games...

Next MGS, GT5, Rainbow 6, MotorStorm...etc etc, I just dont like because of the ridiculous price and games. I'm seriously considering a 360....But i have to spend another £60 to get it so its wireless.....Which is kinda a ripoff seeing as the Wii was half the price and came with Wireless internet.....

True, the PS3 has potential, but I don't think it's being realised. And the online is nowhere near as established as the 360. I think a major advantage of the 360 is it is established userbase. I think it may even beat the PC in that respect (lots of PC games don't have a very large following online, like I couldn't find a Prey server with people the other day). I think this is due to the good infrastructure being available for all games (I never struggle to find servers on Steam, for example...).

An odd thing about that wireless thing is the Wii and 360 are opposites... Wii comes with wireless, but needs and adaptor for wired, 360 has wired, but needs a wireless adaptor.

The 360 comes with a 20 or 60GB HDD depending on version. That classes as internal memory, really.

WEll not really if u get core u get NOTHING!! no memory so the premium with more expensive price is u pratically buying the memory (amongst other things) so it doent count and the fact u can actually attach and take off hard drive from the top so it not exactly "internal" now is it?

As for internal/external, once you attach the HDD you will rarely, if ever, remove it. It would be like say computers don't have internal memory because you can remove it, tbh. And at the pricepoint per GB, the HDDs are cheaper than SD, but then again, you need more space with a 360, lolz.

I just checked the pricing for the 360 HDDs, damn they're expensive! You pay so much just because it's got stupid official branding on it. They cost about 3 times as much as the equivalent PC HDD, WTF are they playing at? I'm pretty certain those units are just PC HDDs in a box...

I don't see what people see in the PS3, it's expensive, has no games and also comes across as really really pretentious (anyone seen the Heavenly Swords ad?) True, it's hardware does have a bit of potential, but it won't be realised at all.

And Si, I seriously doubt that, considering the 20GB version cost £65...

360 ftw, its online is matched only by steam for organisation and all big games come out on 360.

I got £200 and if i be bothered to go work ill probs get £300 at end of year. lol I will probs get 360 simly to do with these votes but i dont have that much money atm, my mum will pay half but thats for B'Day and Christmas Present lol. My bro says hes getting a new comp nxt August, but by that time the comp will probs be too old for new games lol. I agree Wynney why have they brought out PSP2 and stuff like that, its too soon, Everyones bassically just got used to using it and they;ve brought a new one out! plus The Sales for Gaming Consols are Very high with the XBox and stuff that has been made.

Just wait when Sony really get going....Sony bankrupted SEGA remember...Through a bizarre way, but its true. I still play my PS2, and it had some golden titles. If Sony can make some more of those golden titles they will truly be laughing. However, PS Home needs a bit of sorting and the rpice needs a HUGE reduction. The graphics/power wont be truly realised until the end of its operational life in all fairness. The people using the CELL tech have barely even scratched the surface of what its truly capable of. It will take a very brave developer to make its name by properly expoiting the amazing power locked inside the black box...

With the 360 and Wii having massive games coming the rest of this year and the beginning of next, Sony could well be in trouble.....

Sony are in deep trouble, they don't have the games to support such an expensive console. One of the major ironies about it is they are going on about how powerful their new Cell processor is and how much more powerful it is than computer processors and I will agree, it is, I have seen some statistics, and it performs incredibly, but, by the time they actually USE it, more powerful desktop chips will exist being used to their full potential. Infact, I've only seen one thing utilise the PS3, and that's Folding @ Home, which works incredibly on the PS3, just is not what it was really designed for. (For those that are wondering, it's a distributed computing app devoted to creating cures for illnesses, it just requires lots and lots of processing).

Actually, that's an interesting thing, has anyone noticed how reluctant developers are to push the "power" consoles to their limits, while they will happily create games for computers that need all the latest and greatest hardware to run? Just seems odd to me, it's not like they CAN'T push the consoles, the technologies already exist...

Hellfire, comps will play games for surprising long times, my comp is mostly 3 years old, apart from the graphics (which I was forced to upgrade as my 6800GT fried, but I would have been happy still using it).

You need good systems, yes, but they will still work fine on older/weaker systems.

Good piont. O yeah also, i found that very old games like Red alert 2 or Dugeon Keeper 1 and 2 dont work on new comps any more! that really annoyed me

They do, but you require a bit of tweaking. Try using compatibility mode on the shortcut.

Sold Out RA2? Becuase You'll actually need a special patch for it...I had to get into contact with Sold Out and ask them for the patch because I could not get RA2 to work on XP or Si's Vista machine. So we tweaked with the settings and it didnt work. They sent me a full on patch and the game works with only a few random glitches now

Strange, I got Wigo's copy running first time, with a bit of fiddling on my part (aka compat mode and possibly colour stuff).

lol It sucks, i can get css working on this comp, but its sooo slow and my lat is like 1000! lol
