I'm guessing that purely down to the fact that you are reading this topic means that you like your computers, computers games, consoles etc. and have registered on this forum (if you haven't then you should do).

There are two things that all of us have in common. The first thing is that we enjoy these things, computers and gaming, hardware, software, whatever your niche is. The second thing is that we are classed as social rejects. I'm not going to deny this at all; not the fact that I am a social reject, simply the fact that I am classed as one. I don't mean to be a revolutionist or anything, but this really must change!

Think about the guys who spend all their money on their cars and bikes. Think about the guys who go down the pub and watch the footy, or even go to watch the footy every Saturday. They're enthusiasts just as much as we are!

Think about the number of times you have been called a geek or a nerd, and told that you are wasting your life away on a computer? What about those guys who go out and watch football and do up their ve-hicles, are they wasting their lives? It's seen as unacceptable to be an IT super-user these days.

If you think about what work will be like in the future, nobody will travel to work and everybody will watch the football through webcam, so that insignificant IT super-user will suddenly become significant again.

Goodbye.

The way I see it is they can class us how they want, IT is taking over this world, and those who can use it properly will succeed with it. All I have to say is - Bill Gates.

Anyway, I believe the stereotype of no social life comes from the time when games were singleplayer and the internet wasn't around. In those times "geeks" were social rejects, because they would be doing stuff alone. Now however, internet is king, we talk on many forums, we play online games. Being a geek is a lot more social now, but many don't accept it. Many of those that don't accept it are those who think sports are everything and such, when infact we will probably get a lot further than them in life.
