Hello.

I have an up to date copy of Unreal Tournament 2004 (it is patched to v3369), and I just downloaded Red Orchestra Combined Arms 3.3 (Full Client) from [url=http://www.filecloud.com/file/1851/Red+Orchestra+Combined+Arms+v3.3+Full+Install/]here[/url].

Now, after having copied all the files from the archive in to my UT2004 folder (which is C:\\\\UT2004 on my PC), and executing the batch file, it does not open UT2004. OK, so I try to launch UT2004.exe with the -mod=RedOrchestra argument, but it doesn't even load the splash screen still. OK, so I load up UT2004.exe without any arguments, and it loads fine. I go in to 'Community' once the game has loaded, and I can see the the Red Orchestra mod has been selected, but it isn't in the list on the left hand side, and when I click on 'Activate' at the bottom of the screen, nothing happens.

Has anybody else experienced this problem, or know a workaround?

Hmm, don't have Red Orchestra, but it sounds like it's broken. You could try a full UT04+mod reinstall.

I'll try that when I get in. Might look on the RO forums to see if there are any suggestions though. I'll let you guys know.

Just realised, you're only 9 posts from 1000!

Just remember I have 2 copies of Unreal Tournament 2004 (so my brother can play at the same time) so I can try installing this mod on that computer to see if I get the same problem. If I do, I might just go straight to the Red Orchestra forums to see if there is a known issue, rather than re-installing the game, patching it, then applying the RO mod.

Hmm, could be. You may want to scour around for an older version of the mod.

Hmm, www.redorchestramod.com (for UT2004) doesn't work, but www.redorchestragame.com (for Steam) does work. Err, not sure what's going on here.

Valv enow owns RedOrchestra, they probably want the only version you can get to be the one you pay for.

I tried Red Orchestra version 3.2 for UT2004 (it came as an .exe from [url=http://www.filecloud.com/]Filecloud[/url]) and it's not that bad. After taking a look at the video's for Red Orchestra Ostfront 41-45, it looks like it has undergone a lot of changes since version 3.2 on UT2004.

I guess the mod just grew so much that eventually they had to start charging people. It still uses Unreal Engine 2, but is delivered via Steam. It costs $25 on there, and around ?15 on play.com.

I've been reading a few reviews, IGN definitely have the best review out there. They say that if you're fed up of games like Battlefield 2 and Call of Duty, which are quite gamey games, then you might like Red Orchestra. RO focuses on realism. The RO team would like to make you feel like you are 'in a war' rather than 'in a war film'. Recoil is probably slightly more than you are used to, there is no indication of how much ammo you have left, there are no radars or maps, you do not know where all the vehicles are, and there are no crosshairs (unless you have a scope of some sort), but there are iron-sights. Weapons feel powerful, too.

Maybe when I have some spare cash I might buy it to see what it is like. It is highly rated. Shame it isn't free any more though.

Hmm, I tried playing the demo and didn't like it. Just not my kind of game.
