They have also removed the Backburners efficiency for killing fleeing spies. It'll no longer crit on the back hits as far as I can tell. If I am understanding that tweak correctly.

Very glad they added Drag and Drop to the items :D I can finally sort my backpack! :D

Medals: We haven't got them yet, but we believe they will be a medal that you get ingame. They ran out at about 4am.

Critboost is like a kritzkrieg/first blood. It's worth noting that the 10 seconds isn't a right lot, it's just the same as a kritzkrieg, except with a kritzkrieg you position yourself first. I can see it being used tactically like a super kritz, though, which adds more to comp play.

Hats - The new soldier ones are awesome, me wants. The others are also cool.

EDITS AFTER MORE PLAYTIME

This update has kind of killed my unlocks.

When I first launched the game after updating, my backpack only contained about half of what I have actually unlocked, and these were all dotted about randomly.
I was confused so I started organizing them so I could see what was missing and more started appearing from underneath the items I moved!
Then I joined a server, chose scout, and had a FREAKING BACKBURNER, JARATE and KGBs!!!

After much pwning and many randomers (and Chicken) complaining I managed to fix most of the classes. Even though playing Spy with a KritzKrieg was rather fun ;P
Now nobody has the wrong weapons but 7 of my weapons refuse to be equipped: KGBs, Flare gun, Axetinguisher, Ubersaw, Kritzkrieg, Ambassador and C&D.
This pretty much means I can't play Spy or Pyro effectively :'(
I think I'm going to have to just wait and get the weapons again from random drops :( Now I want dupes I don't seem to be getting any. I've had no random items since the update and I've been playing literally ALL DAY.


All the new hats are amazing, the Heavy's bobble hat is my fav xD
Still no hats Q.Q

KOTH sucks, so does Viaduct. I'll admit that it's pretty but that's all it is. The cap time needs to be MUCH MUCH shorter.
I take back what I said actually, I played some more KOTH and It's grown on me, but Viaduct still sucks, Nucleus is teh sex.

The crit boost isn't exactly necessary or game defining but it does seem to stop stalemates happening so often.
The shinyness of crits now is just too cool.

The teleporter and the disguised spy changes are both ridiculous.

The scout is also a more balanced class now, the FAN works properly and the sandman is worth using, but not actually too annoying.

Loser run animations are beyond win xD

Wow, that's messed up >< I would have kept the uber scout, though :P

KOTH either needs shorter capture times or to pause the countdown while an enemy member is on the point.

I think the teleporter change is fairly fair, it makes sense, atleast.

Some of the spy changes are a bit odd, a lot of the weapon special stuff doesn't work on disguised spies now, which to me breaks some of the spy checking systems, but whatever.

I personally loled especially when you never actually play in competitive games yourself :P

Most competitive games dont take part of CTF maps, sure you may be getting the odd very rare game on turbine but thats it.

I think your issue with the unlocks may have been fixed in the new patch update, DW.

I like the King of the Hill gamemode. And also koth_viaduct and koth_sawmill.

Spy changes, if you were referring to the cloaks, that was a bug they fixed in the latest patch.

As for the on-hit effects, I'm not fully sure just what was affected with regards to the spy. I know Natasha apparently was.

I know there's some threads about it on the Steam-powered forums, but I hadn't noticed on the downstairs PC (and if 10-20 fps vanished on that PC, trust me I would notice it :P ).

Apparently they have broken rocket jumping in this update. Rocket jumping does a lot less damage to you now and you dont go as far.

10 second critboost isn’t as OP as i was expecting but I still think it should be downed to mini crits.

I love KOTH even though i always loose :( caps need to be faster imo.

I don’t really like the teleporter repair atm. 2 soldiers constantly shooting an exit couldn’t destroy it yesterday: S
eventually we had to surround it with sentrys :/
The side you’re not directly hitting with the wrench should repair at ½ or 1/3 of the normal rate.

Was all crits overtime part of the update ? Or just something that servers can choose to run because this is a really good idea.

The wrench thing is ridiculous over teleports...Engineer can just build teleport next to nest and its hard to destroy the exit then.

Bringing out more hats when you don't get any in the first place is a farce. Fine, there's a very small chance but it doesn't reward anyone for playing the game when it's based on chance. (playing the game more doesn't mean you will get more hats).

The fixes to the scout etc. are trying to fix problems that shouldn't have occurred based on bringing out new weapons just for the sake of it. If the soldier gets updated with new weapons I'm uninstalling the game for good and I'm not joking on that.

The new update has brought my fps from 120+ to 40-60 on a full server. And this isn't because of a fragmentation issue as far as I'm aware. Css remains at just below 200. Ok, it could be another problem. But it was fine the day before the update (although I cba arguing with people over this).

The ctf sawmill is fun, although that could be because I was going spy, uncloaking behind the saw in an attempt to bait enemies to run into it ^^. It worked a couple of times xD.

Haven't played it enough to really judge the update properly, but for me I can only think about how much the game was better before the upgrades all came along. *sigh*

critboost's were part of the update and i don’t think you can turn them off. good idea, but i'd prefer minicrits.

Personally I’m glad valve are trying to keep the game fresh... but there doing it wrong. new content done correctly is never a bad thing as far as I’m concerned. It’s only a problem if they add pointless, useless, stupid,REALLY annoying, or total upgrades

Even then, its better than messing with the graphics, adding a new weapon, changing the title and selling it off as a new game

give them time, they'll fix it.

The critboost doesn't apply in overtime, don't know where you get that from.

The teleport thing is 50:50, it makes attacking a teleporter harder, but does make teleports less frustrating for engineers (something you can't look after and gets destroyed repeatedly on lots of maps).

As for the new weapons, a lot of them, as McWill said, are stupid. Some of them are good sidegrades (see Krtizkrieg and flare gun). As for the soldier thing, you're guaranteeing you'll stop playing it, there.

As for fps drop/fragmentation, the game itself may be spread out, try right click in Steam -> properties -> Local files -> Defragment cache files. Takes a couple of minutes and could help.

I was on well the other night, we were winning but the other team capped the intel. Scouts rush out of their base to use the crits 2 of them down the demo next to me whilst I took out the 3rd coming from the door. Turned around and thankfully the other 2 scouts couldn't aim and they went down.

However if CTF was ever going to become popular for matches then this 10 second of crit buff for everyone would pretty much win the game for the first team to get the intel first.
