Interesting question!
I try not to mix HTML and PHP together too much. So if I am creating a layout or structure page, I will do my best to code it in all PHP or at least mostly HTML. It really depends.
At the moment, it's pretty much all PHP because styles, layout defaults etc. are being pulled out of a database, then the relevant includes or lines of code are loaded up.
The only page that really has a mixture of code is index.php, but you expected that right?

It pretty much goes like this...

  1. Connection to MySQL
  2. Load user details from MySQL
  3. Process POST/GET etc.
  4. DTD
  5. Start of XHTML
  6. Meta Tags
  7. Body
  8. End

Edit: This post was made on Debian Etch i386 in the Iceweasel browser... a Debian branded version of Firefox 2.0.0.13. Interesting. (Here's a screenshot)

Started working on the forum...

Image

It's quite a bit of code. I'm hoping to shorten it down soon.

This is actually the fourth version of the forum file so far. I'm experimenting with the best way to actually do it... all the files do the same thing, but this one does it the best, and the neatest, and currently has the shortest number of lines required to do that, and it's lightning fast.

I'm continuing this soon... Give it a week or so after I've built my computer and I'll be straight back on to making my webby.

I just thought I would show you a few pictures of what one of the websites used to look like. I don't think you guys will have seen these screenshots before as I have only just recovered them from an old hard drive...

Enjoy!

LOL, I think something must have stolen focus.

It's meant to be "The Lorem Ipsum text is just standard filler text".

I recovered this to my new PC on the weekend (it's now known as the Antiforum) and it's working 100%. Will update you in another year.
