I wouldn't know about that... I work for an international enterprise networking and service provider type organization.

I'm back in the folding game, this time on my graphics card...

I have a question, can I run the GPU version and the CPU version at the same time. Edit: Though I'm not doing much my cpu is almost 100% all the time anyway from fah so i guess not.

This is the GPU version 6 screeney after running it for about 5 mins:

Dammit, you'll take back over, I'll probabily pause folding and forget about it for days

Heh, I need to get it running when I get my new comp. Still slowly slogging away with these 2 though, don't want to put it on my current graphics cos it's dodgy.

Unfortunately the points aren't/weren't balanced so nVidia GPUs massively out point ATI ones (even Aaron's system would be beaten by a single high end nVidia card).

Is the multi-GPU client any good, yet?

LOL, epic fail!

It doesn't scale properly to 4 GPU's so unfortunately I cannot use it.

Also, my SMP client at work has stopped working, and I can no longer remotely execute FAH 5 console.

Therefore, I am out of the folding game for a while.

Yeah, I'd noticed that you've lost a lot of power suddenly.

Post subject:  Re: Aaron Folds over 200 WU's

@ Wynney: Folding@Home is a program that utilizes unused cpu cycles to do calculations on the way that proteins fold, and more important mis-fold. The distributed system generates MASSIVE amounts of information for scientists that otherwise they would not have. This information can be used to work out how some diseases occur and ways of solving them. Visit http://folding.standford.edu for more.

@ Skillers: Why don't we fold on our server, I mean its on 24/7 right?

Post subject:  Re: Aaron Folds over 200 WU's

if its useful and is using unused stuff then i may as well dowload it as well ;)

Yeah, it just runs in the background with the lowest processor priority, so when you run something it lowers it's use. The GPU version is BETA so doesn't work completely correctly, so only get the CPU client if you're new to this.

I say we go even further and have a folding page with our stats on etc.

Two things:

1) Our server has finished its first WU
http://kakaostats.com/usum.php?u=1369119

2) Yay or nay, a Techious folding page for pushing the community to fold.

Post subject:  Re: Aaron Folds over 200 WU's

1) Awesome :)

2) Maybe, would be cool to have automatic stats parsing if possible, just of our team page. Event2 is more important, though ;)

2.5 years later, my F@H SMP client works again... Been folding for about a week now ;)

It stopped working for you?

Post subject:  Re: Aaron Folds over 200 WU's

Yeah, the SMP one kept locking up on me. Also I still can't run the console version across the network any more because of some monitoring software that keeps track of software changes and reports to a central server at our head-office... I'd get in to trouble basically.

But I hope to keep SMP running on my machine.

D'you think that my School/Sixthform would be able to do something like this?
There's always idle computers, but they are at login screens (Usually the OS default with some changes by RM), but it'd still be nice to use for users that are logged in, especially teachers laptops as they are on for like 7 hours per day.
