So upon fixing this PS2 and not re-assembling the case (as I yanked the silver power ribbon out).
I was seeing how hot this heatsink was with my hand and then I thought, can you get heatsinks that are organic based?
I loosely googled it and found nothing. That's when I came here.

Do you think this would be possible?

I think it would need to be engineered for certain temperatures as different cells work more/less efficiently at certain temperatures.

As a heatsinks purpose is just to move heat away as quick as possible, I don't see how an organic heatsink would work. If I were to come up with a heatsink from scratch, I would probably end up with what we have now.

Don't really know what you mean by "organic based" (modelled after organnic life, made of organic compounds, etc) but it's probably possible, yes, but pretty pointless. Metals are the best heat conductors around while also being pretty cheap and easy to make into heatsinks, so why use anything else?

It was more out of curiosity than anything, not would it be better, just would it work.

I don't mean it in this way, but basically put a plant or some fungus onto the metal which would use the heat to do whatever.

Actually a bad idea, the purpose of a heatsink is to disperse heat, whereas a plant is more likely to store (or even generate) heat.

It wasn't organic, it was an interdimensional bridge.
