Oh yay, an iPhone.

Nothing special, another heavily locked down device from Apple that is noting particularly special.

Unfortunately, yes, though Android is catching up, and we have WinMo 7 soon, which is looking good.

One thing I will say about iPhone 4 is it looks so much better than the old iPhones, a much nicer aesthetic.

It does have the one feature I have been wanting since the introduction of YouTube HD... HD video uploading to YouTube. Pretty much sold by this TBH - I was going to buy a dedicated HD camera just for this but now the iPhone should be able to do it (albeit in crappy obvious mobile phone laggy quality). Finally an upgrade from the original iPhone.

Don't really see what that has to do with my post, I meant catching up in the market share meaning, and only said the iPhone looks (physically) better ><

If I needed a new phone, I would probably go Android, though WinMo 7 is looking very promising, and has some pretty nice phones coming.

I'm going to stick with O2 but go for the £25 tariff (2 years)

Post subject:  Re: Iphone 4

I wouldn't be surprised if most carriers start doing that. Our mobile technology can't cope with smartphones. It doesn't surprise me that O2 was the first either, they are the biggest UK provider and probably have an even larger share of the smartphone market (being the only provider of the iPhone up till now). It's quite telling simply by the numbers in the article that the network isn't really designed to deal with all the content that mobiles can get these days.

Quite odd how little data the £60 package gives compared to the £25.

Hehe. My first gen iPhone has survived this long without any screen problems. I can only hope that the new one is even better.

I have June 24th booked off as holiday so I can go home, get it configured, then go out for a meal with some work colleagues.

Update: I just read the article. I don't think it's fair to say it's a real iPhone when its internals have been stripped. Were they removed by Apple or by an amateur? Either way it could mean that 1) the real iPhone will be even more prone to this problem due to added weight (internal components) or 2) this is just a fake and they want to hype up the iPhone in a bad way.

Again though, either way: lol

Second update: Just want you to know I'm not iPhone fanboy. I can easily point out many problems with the iPhone that I would love to see fixed... removeable battery is a starting point, Bluetooth file transfer would be nice... loads of things.

I understand you're not a fanboy, otherwise this will be your fourth iPhone. The sign of something really good is that you don't care if you're 3 versions behind :P

Also, I think it might be 2), doesn't it look like a hammer caused that crack (see top right of image) So no smashing with hammers :P

It does look mysteriously hammered. I guess the problem could be that the glass is more exposed now, rather than guarded by a bezel.

They probably dropped it and then stamped on it a few times for good measure. Evidently it was not durable enough to withstand rage.

600,000 iPhones pre-ordered on first day for the five first countries. This is with the consistent time outs of the apple website.

The iPhone 4 launch was undeniably a disaster, lots of stuff went wrong that really shouldn't.

Not really apples fault for AT&T security issues, AT&T just pays a lot of money to keep Apple selling only to them. In Canada we now have 6-7 carriers in my area that are going to sell the iPhone and it will be available unlocked if you pay for the phone full price at the apple store.

It's not even released yet lol.

That pre-order chaos is ridiculous. Surely they could and should have prepared for the high demand?
