So, what'll it be, the .NET thing or the open sauce thing?

Personally, I prefer PHP: ease of use, can be used in conjunction with a zillion web servers, and it's one hundred percent free!

PHP is much better. Even though I'm not much of a coder, I know PHP works better.

ASP is too high-level (has more human readable code). It operates slower, and ASP.NET is slower than yer standard ASP, so why even go there?
It's quite similar to VB, which I have never been fond of.

PHP is teh king then.

I've heard PHP is easier to code, therefore it is more accessable to more users.

They're probably about the same. PHP is derived from Java like syntax (i.e.: Java, JavaScript, C) whereas ASP is derived from VB like syntax, or Basic syntax, which is closer to the human language. I find PHP easier to get in to, and its functions easier to remember. PHP site has a handy quickref also.

I agree, the php functions are more easy to remember, even though i like VB, i dont like asp as the only server that i know it can be run on is IIS, and i hate iis. Plus i find it easier to get my fingers to the <?php buttons quicker than the <% buttons.

ASP can be run on Apache too, using Apache::ASP -- http://www.apache-asp.org/. It is a Perl module. Though, why anybody would want to do this, I have no idea!

if u get a lot of web servers they have things like php and mysql built in to them so they are better

I've also heard PHP is less server heavy, meaning it requires cheaper servers. And it runs on Linux.
