Another thought occurred to me.

They paid for it. They got it as advertised.

If I had something taken away from me that I had paid for because some other people did not like it I would feel rather aggrieved.

Yes exactly to make it fair it would only be right to have the consent of all the gold members before making a change due to other peoples opinion's.

The palette idea does sound good :D

Well, think of it as, you pay for reserve slots. However, some people are being clicked and complain on the forums. As a result of this, you're reserve slots are limited to only being used before 9pm say (peak time). This would not be good karma.

My apologies to all the trouble my name has caused.
The colour black is in my name, I am Shadow, Shadow's are black, therefore it fitted my colour would be black and I thought it would go well with Nannal going pink; it's different and it's making use of the rights I have paid for myself.
The colour-name-change was given to those who have paid to techious and are helping to keep the servers running etc and I took advantage of it. Personally I can see the black perfectly fine on my extremely old laptop which has been around since about the year 2000. If others have less than perfect eyesight or have monitors that are even worse, I do apologise but I can't really see anything wrong with it as you will know it is me as you can see my avatar and signature which also is unique to me (I don't see anybody else with an arrogant Medic spray in their avatar).
I put the idea through Skillers, the god of Techious. Now, normally when things aren't right, Skillers would flat out say no to it, along with a joke and a bit of arrogance on his side thrown in but he checked my black name and couldn't see a problem with it, my name clearly can be seen and read. If Skillers was happy with it (and he's very considerate on all sides) then I assumed it would be good with everyone else, my apologies for my lack of vision and assumptions.
Keeping the colour-name-change is my vote, it is a benefit and reward to those who are paying and helping this system to run. If people don't like it, that is their opinion. As with everything, there will be some people who don't like it and some people who do. Take Schlurbi's writing for example, he wrote in all sorts of different colours, some people got annoyed, some didn't care and some actually liked it. It is all down to different opinions. There is always conflict in everything but it all dies down eventually.
If the majority want me to change my name colour, I shall. But need I remind you that Metritutus was planning to change his name-colour to exactly the same colour as the forum so his would be invisible...

I personally prefer a limited range of colours so it’s easy to recognise who belongs to which group and what not, but I don’t really see why it would be a problem if anyone wanted to change it

I certainly don't, as proven when I mistakenly called Wigouche Metritutus (fail). The signature and avatar generally contains the person's name anyway.
