Those 3 negative points sound like 3 awesome points for me :) online-only is super win.

I think we're all a bit young to have appreciated the other Diablo games in their online glory. I think Diablo 3 will be a lot of fun to play online in small groups with friends. I will be really looking forward to this game.

I don't see how online only can ever be considered a positive point - what if you don't have an internet connection for a while and want to play some SP? - you can't do that with this, even though SP is possible.

Same goes for "absolutely no modding".

I reckon they're shooting themselves in the foot with the no-modding thing. That said though, Blizzard have been supportive of the modding scene for Starcraft 2, and I don't really know what the original two Diablo games were like with regards to modding. It might not even be missed as a feature.

Do people still want to play SP these days?

Yes. I can especially see it with Diablo as it strikes me as a decent laptop/on the move kinda game. This all strikes me as a very Activision thing to do...

How come? What happened there?

Activision and Blizzard merged a few years back, and I feel it has been showing in Blizzard's releases (ie no LAN support for SC2 - it actually causes problems at big LAN tourneys as people sitting a few metres away from each other get lag outs).

I just bought this game from the official website as a digital download edition. Couldn't find it in-stock in Gloucester.

Be sure to post how you get on with it! :D

"We think it’s really going to add a lot of depth to the game. If I have more money than time I can purchase items, or if I’m leet in the game I can get benefits out of it. The players really want it. This is something that we know people are going to do either way."

I agree with this point.

Heh, I really cba with Diablo, so expensive, and there's others coming out soon(ish), that, IMO, look a lot better - Torchlight 2 and Grim Dawn (by the Titan Quest/Diablo 2 people) are the big ones, and Path of Exile is worth a mention (though I wasn't enamored when I played the beta a few months back).

As for the online only thing, there's been a huge amount of problems with it - just type err into Google and see what the first suggestion is. Lots of lag for people playing alone etc (apparently it's nigh on unplayable for Australians).
While it makes sense to restrict SP/MP interaction from a hacking standpoint, that isn't a reason to disable SP altogether, just to make it isolated - if you want to play SP then it's available). TBH, I think the main reason it's MP only is so that people can use the RMAH with all their characters - more people may be tempted that way, even if they wouldn't normally interact - more money for ActiBlizz.

I played for about 20 minutes this morning. It was silky smooth and gloriously lag free. My account wasn't even hacked it was that good.

Just been reading reports of people being horrendously hacked. I logged in to my Battle.net account, changed my password, set up an authenticator (set it to required on every login), and SMS alerts!

Torchlight 2 looks like a great game.

Rumour has it that some people who used authenticators have also had their accounts compromised.

Hmm, I've been reading (sifting through the kiddy rage) on the official forums. It sounds like hackers can detect your session ID or something like that, and spoof it to the Battle.net servers, or something... It's good I don't have an account worth hacking ;)

A lot of people are saying the solution is to add offline single player. But what about multiplayer? I bought this game for the multiplayer lol.

While not necessarily a solution to the hacking (online players would still be vulnerable to hacking), saying that having offline is pointless because some people play for multiplayer is a bad argument. I don't see a compelling argument that SP and LAN/privately hosted MP (to avoid hacking/queues/lag) shouldn't be included in such a game.

Sure they should add it, to provide people with more ways to play, I wouldn't argue against that at all, it has no effect on me!

Completed this on Normal difficulty. Currently working my way through Nightmare on my 44 Wizard, at the start of Act 3 :)

It's a good game, but Blizzard are destroying it with Battle.net.

I should have learned from WoW.

I thought you didn't mind the online-only stuff?

I have no problems with it when it works. I bought this game for the multiplayer.

But when it stops you from logging in to play at all, that's a big problem.

I guess I don't have a problem with anything when it works :P

This game is good. Who else plays? So far just me, Azraeleus and Markas.
