As some of you may know I have movedto university hence why my appearence in mumble is so little, the reason behind this isnt just me being away from my computer but UWE has decided to block the ports which mumble is using.
I have no options but to say that I will only be allowed to talk to you in the holidays which sucks because of the sitation im in .
Well hopefully I will back soon and be able to speak to all later! :D

Ah, port blocking sucks :(

You might be able to ask them to unblock them, though, some universities allow it, just need a valid/legal reason (and Mumble is a good one, just explain what it is and give them information).

Hey guys,

Thought adding to this discussion might help a few of you. Last year I was at student village and im a hardcore pc gamer so actually being able to play certain games was important to me.

Before moving in I also read that resnet were difficult to deal with when asking for ports to be opened but after actually emailing them myself when I got there due to certain problems I was having they were brilliant. I mainly dealt with Paul Smith the Co-ordinator and every port was opened that I asked for within a small time period. (max 2 days).

Some advice when emailing them for requests is, well be polite first you can imagine how many emails they get every day. Also include the ports list and what they are for (eg. EA game servers / ventrillo) Court name/block/flat number as I was asked this on many occasions. Include your Uwe email address if emailing from another address.

Hope you lot have a good time in the village, expect amazingly low pings and extremely high bandwidth waiting to be burned up. Happy gaming. Hope this helped.

Sounds like it might be possible to get it unblocked, just be sure to be very polite and informative about why you want it.

Are VPN services blocked? In theory you can redirect yourself (perhaps using a SOCKS proxy and just tunnel your data through there ;) )

When you're on Steam next I'll try and work it out with you ;)

Edit: This should work ;)

hey again been really busy sorting things out whilst student finance is being its usual self and being very slow..... trying few things out that you have suggested. Thanks for contribution to help fix the problem seems I may need to do some emailing which would be the easiest way of solving the problem.
All I want is to go on MUMBLE:P
Some people below me are having problems with their PS3 saying they cant go on but they DL like a mutha fudger (go go 50mb internet) speak to you soon (hopefully!!!!)
P.s (to Wynney) Havent had chance to try a vent server so dont really know if they are all blocked or not. :wow:
