How about the 18 people turn up, then Hawke and I (or someone else who can judge what teams would be fairer then a random set) choose the teams based on what will make a good balanced two sides and then we are randomly assigned to either team through Si throwing a dice or something?

The idea that people pre-choose their class is so there's no arguments on the lines of:
Skillers- I want Soldier
Chicken- No I want Soldier
Skillers- Shut up foooool! *admin bans*
That situation obviously would never happen realistically, but a similar situation can arise where people spend 20 minutes arguing who goes as what class, which wastes time and spoils the evening.
Someone is going to judge the people attending and make as balanced teams as possible, rather than allowing stacking.

Scottie wrote:
Because at the moment you can only randomly assign the teams within the confines of what classes people play, and random chance is likely to stack one team just as it does on most pubs.

Hence I'm going to ask somebody to construct fair teams based on the people playing. There hopefully will be no overall stack on either side.

Now sign up nub :P

First post in here (weeee!).

On a more relevant notice: if Skillers or Chicken want to change, let me know.
With 300+ soldier hours I guess I'm more efficient being a soldier than anything else.
Also, if needed, I could be engineer...

So the dibs on classes aren't on anymore. How are the classes distributed then, team captains decide?

Yeah, team captains decide. Si and myself aren't going to force classes on people though, we'll let them decide what they want to play, but we need to construct balanced teams which is easier this way.

Will we get to take turns on classes?

edit. just realised this is starting to sound like herding children playing at the sandbox xD
Also, nosehole wants to play if there's still room.

I guess thats up to the team, but I'm not completely taken on the possible ignoring of classes you signed up for tbh...

It's up to the team if you take turns.

Scottie and I are deciding the teams, and we're not ignoring the classes you prefer to play.

Nosehole's now on the list of people signed up to play.

These are the classes requested:

Scout: Aaron/ Samzala
Pyro: Oggy/Harry
Soldier: Me/Chicken
Heavy: Rennac/Buttons/Nose
Engie: BB
Demo: Cassius
Medic: Hawke/Si
Sniper: MC/Wynney
Spy: Met

We need 1 more engie, demo and spy, and have one too many heavies. We also have a bunch of reserves. If one of the heavies is willing to play another class, that would probably be excellent.

As for picking teams, how about this:

Keep medics as captains, as is now, then alternate picking of each class.

A picks: Demo, sniper, engy, spy
B picks: Soldier, scout, heavy, pyro

Should be a fairly balanced picking and won't result in people having to play unwanted classes. The distribution of classes picked should be fair aswell.

Alternatively the captains just take turns picking, which would also be fair as they have the option to prioritise classes etc.

Engie and Demo are fine - not sure which one I'd rather play as.
Meh, I say Engineer!

EDIT: Also, does the restriction regarding the Engie unlocks also apply to relocating stuff?

Engineer it is :)

League rules state that relocating is allowed (it's a feature, the reason they ban new unlocks is people haven't had time to acquire and test them).

Not really sure why we're playing league rules tbh ><

Ok, thanks for clearing that up :)

Post subject:  Re: TF2 Highlander Event

Honestly, i wouldnt see the reason, everything is pretty fairly balanced(cept the sandman, and the wrangler is SLIGHTLY SLIGHTLY SLIGHTLY OP on lvl3 sentries)

Post subject:  Re: TF2 Highlander Event

The engy updates are banned by leagues cos they're new, they trial them first before deciding if they're allowed.

Nope, League Rules still apply as it makes the game a lot more fun and fair.
