Basically...

If you pit while the pitlane is closed (usually when the safety car is deployed) you get a 10 second stop go penalty. Which sometimes, is unavoidable because you are low on fuel etc (see Rosberg in Singapore).

However;

If you are "Dangerously released" from your pit box (IE, into the path of another car) you only get a drive through penalty...

How is the former worth a larger punishment than the latter? In my opinion, a crash in the pitlane (between a car travelling at 50mph, and one at sorta like 10-25mph) would be a SHIT load more dangerous than a car stopping under the safety car (where there is no bunching etc).

Opinions on ridiculous rules?

The rule about the pits being closed when the safety car out is more dangerous in itself, as when the pitlane is opened, probably most of the cars come rushing into the pits (maybe 12-18 cars at once) causing people to queue outside their pitboxs and generally make the pitlane extremely dangerous.... << Is another on i just thought of lol

surely something like this has a ferrari clause where it goes "... unless its ferrari incase we wont give a damn and they can just move along"

or is there an actual limit to the love they have

hmm im guessing its to stop everyone fueling when a safety car is out giving them an advantage over the rest of the field who stopped when the race was going on.

although the flaws you have pointed out are rather obvious ones that need to be addressed :|
