Just a little suggestion to all those going to University and living there. It is suggested that you check the details for Internet status at your Uni as many block certain ports for security reasons. Many Universities block Steam from connecting, and most block MSN video converstions from working as it requires about 98% of all ports to be openable (think, 98% of 64ki )! Also, some have known problems with games consoles (seems PS3 is worse for problems) Just a warning and if anyone wants to post info for other members! |

Skype video works (well it does for me...) as does Yahoo! messenger, or we just find a GTalk addon. Can I just clarify that this is VIDEO functions, text still works

Right click Steam Icon -> Servers, or Find servers ingame. Any idea how to check what ports are blocked? |

Check with your university. Their site should have a page about their internet connection. (I found it on mine by looking up the actual price of £55 a year to JA.net for mine) |

ok ive looked on the web for my uni at internet. there is wireles obv. but it mentions nothing of blocking ports, only that i should have virus software installed to avoid getting viruses. does this mean im k? |
