I was getting this which is my advertised speed: 10 down/ 1 up

Now my new internet speed LOL. I just bought a new amplifier for my cable connection and it worked a miracle:

It varies from 18-28 actually, but averages out at around 23.

Nice download speed Insilini.

Mines not too bad, except the damn annoying "fair use policy" crap they introduced after the contract, basically from like 2pm to 2am no unlimited downloads (about 50gb a month) otherwise they throttle you to hell for three months after if you have improved useage, yeah I raged alot at them on the phone.

My bandwidth limit is a measly 95 GB :/ Iv been over for the past 2 months. My ISP doesn't throttle my internet they just charge $$$ to a maximum of $50 :/. My internet bill is about $50 without overage charges O.o.

Damn that's expensive Insulini ><

I pay £10/month for my internet, it's completely unlimited. O2 do have a usage policy, but I have never heard about them acting on it (their FUP is very vague, think it's to protect them if they need to throttle stuff). I can't check how much we use here, but it should be a lot, 3 students who are all heavy Steam users. Should be getting 20meg aswell, but my line isn't good enough.

Only when you have an "unbundled" exchange, otherwise you have to go with BT reselling packages, which cost a lot and are heavily limited. Also, unbundled exchanges are slow.

The other problem with UK broadband is we have a very low proliferation of superfast broadband (ie 20+meg fibre optic) cos no-one wants to stump up the cash to upgrade our phone network from copper.

Which basically means that quite a few areas, especially rural areas in the country, are severely lacking in high-speed connections.

Yeah, not too bad today, hitting our upper limit of Bandwidth :) In Swansea I get like 30-40mb though so :)

Having said that, I'm really happy with my speed. I get my advertised 10m/400k consistently regardless of the time of day.

By living in a country with good network infrastructure. You see, Slovenia saves money by only living in tents, allowing them super fast broadband.
