Alright I've decided to give Vista the kick as it seems to be a total whore when it comes to using my CPU and RAM: 38% of 2GB doing nothing...
I have a CD for XP installation. There is just one problem... I can't seem to install it. I stick it in and boot up from the CD, it says it is checking my hardware configuration, then it quickly flashes something like NTDETECT failed, then restarts the computer.
Anybody got anything they can say to fix this problem so I can get XP back so my computer should be better at games?
Please note: sensible answers only please gentlmen. I don't want some spam in this topic as it is serious and NOT a topic to joke about.
Thank you, please post asap :)

Something like this?

Invalid BOOT.INI file
Booting from c:\windows\
NTDETECT failed

I've been googling.

Does this help?

Sorry Met, nice try but I already read that but no it doesn't help as I can insert the disk, change the boot options etc... then before it gets to the welcome screen or whatever, it says "Checking System hardware configuration" (something like that, can never remember these things) and then it just quickly flashes NTDETECT failed... then restarts immediately (this takes about half a second or less).

It may be a problem with the XP CD.
Otherwise, it may be trying to detect an XP install and failing because Vista is installed. Download the Ultimate Boot CD to format your hard drive before loading XP.
