Might of been a topic but oh well...

I just got some very interesting information from my university...

Letter about TV Licensing:

"However, you do not need a licence if you are only using 'on demand' services, such as tv downloads or on demand streaming, or if you are using your computer or mobile to view programmes on youtube or bebo"

According to Jeopardy (You know who) that directly affects the contract on the actual TV Licensing website, when the letter was from the TV licensing company...

Just thought I'd let you guys know... We've already sorted a TV license for our accomodation, so its all good... But if you have a lock on your door, get one for yourself :)

I'm not taking my TV tuner, so I'll just be using iPlayer when I want to watch something (maybe 4OD, so glad ITV and 5 don't have good shows). Woot, no licence for me!

Yeah... The thing is, the contract for BBCi and those services state you must have a TV license :/

So basically, none of it makes sense :(

Essentially:

You need a TV licence if you are going to watch anything provided by any of the tv broadcasting networks. Would that just sum it up easier!?!?

i.e. unless stated otherwise YOU FUCKING NEED ONE

Also, ITV and five do on demand now too, theyve done for a while

O_O

Is that for immigrants right? If that's not a joke...that's ridiculous.

Assuming I'm not being incredibly stupid here and that it is a joke.

i believe you only need a license for BBC. Channels ITV, Channel four and five are free Or at lest 4 and 5 are i think.

But you can only get channels 4 & 5 when you have BBC channels and you can;t claim your not watching BBC channels to avoid paying for a license.

There fore you must pay for a license even to watch free tv o.0.

I think we get the worst tax of most countries (Norway might be worse, or they could just be expensive in general) BUT we get free healthcare and stuff like that, which Americans have to pay for, as do other countries.

thus the reason for taxes :P. and if u look at countries with same systems (a progressive tax system, not that i expect whining people to understand) we actually have better rates of tax!

also, i like knowing if i brake my leg i wont be turned away at a hospital until i prove i can afford the treatment.

Ur beginning 2 sound like a politician. The tax situation in this country is really bad. Wen i went on holiday 2 spain, fuel there was under 1euro per litre. Thts cus the tax isnt so bad in tht country like it is in uk.

the fuel prices arent because of tax, tax on fuel has been at the same rate for the past 5 years. its actually because of the people who get the fuel restrict its output, the less of something ther e is the more valuable it becomes. this causes value to rise, i.e. stop giving people as much fuel and its price goes up.

in fact, fuel prices were put down to a damage to an oil rig, but in fact this has been fixed. yet the prices remain the same because the same amount of fuel will be bought regardless of its price ---> nice big increase in profit for oil companies!

besides, fuel prices will be dropping 3p this weekend, (nothing to do with tax, it is still the same level as mentioned before) so how about stop complaining about governments and blame the greedy corporations?

in fact, you know why diamonds cost so much? they arent even valuable there are millions of them. however, people control the supply, restricting it -> people going omg there arent many diamonds they are valuable. bigger price. nice big profit. OMG BLAME GOVERNMENT TAXES ON DIAMONDS!
