Okay, so there was a Ninja XP update last night which broke my PC...

In safemode, my PC works perfectly fine, hence why I am here now. However, when I boot my PC normally, it runs for about 4 minutes and then restarts... With a constant loop. If I shutdown properly the updates try to install again and they break with the 9th of the 16 patches.

I know you are going to say "omfg noob, get 7" etc... Which I am currently in the middle of doing (shock horror). But I would quite like a fix for the short term so I can actually do shit on my PC not in safe mode :/ Anyone have any ideas?

System Rollback (meh, fixes some stuff :D), or telling it to not auto update in the windows settings?

I tried system restore, but there was no point as it restores to when it had been restarting later in the morning and not before the update was applied :/ So a no go on that front.

I'll just wipe my hole system and see what I can do from there :/ 7 is on its way so :|

install only needed programs but first do the obvious and in safe mode get your files off first :P just in case you;d forgot. But i swear you can get a later restore point if you look.

Reinstall Windows is the answer to most things. If you are tired - reinstall Windows. Upset? Reinstall Windows. Are you short of money? Reinstall Windows.

I suggested that it might have been that patch that breaks some rootkits causing things to screw up left right and centre

I'm surprised no one has suggested this. Right-click 'My Computer', Go to the 'Advanced' tab, and uncheck the box next to 'Automatically Restart' for 'System Failure'. Or something similar like 'blue screen of death'.

It doesn't fix it obviously, but it might help isolate the problem.
