New NVidia drivers fry graphics cards by causing fans to slow down or stop completely. Something like that.

I heard something similar happened with users running 4870X2's last year - but it was more to do with a newly offered level of cutomisation resulting in users manually adjusting their fan speed to 0 in part due to them not understanding the control file.

I hope Nvidia learn from their mistakes as I believe they are taking big risks with their new architecture.

... However I think we all know that however risky it might be, they will gain more than they will lose.

Well all I have heard in the past is that they have been getting steadily worse. I have never used an NVidia card myself though so lack any first-hand experience.

I did fry a 6600GT a few years ago, however I put that down to being careless. It was an XFX branded model, thought it would go go (not pre OC'eed). The artical did not state if 32bit or 64bit Dvrs?
