Don't get it. I've tried it, and all I can say is that it is worse than the 1.3 patch, which in turn made the game less playable than the previous patches.
Why do Battlefield 2 patches progressively make the game less playable?

It doesn't look like we have much to look forward to with Battlefield 2142, so I am cancelling my pre-order until I am satisifed with the Battlefield 2142 demo, which should be released any time now.

Battlefield 2/2142 wishlist:

* A server browser (honestly, BF2 doesn't have one, but it does have what people refer to as 'shite')
* Cursor and menus that run at the same framerate as the game
* Responsive controls
* The game is rated 16+, so allow swearing and for christ sake add blood to the game, dust looks stupid
* When I knife somebody and dust comes from their face, I expect them to die, please let this happen
* Ability to add friends
* Favourite server list that works
* Server browser
* To stop adding things to the game before they have fixed all the problems
* WIDESCREEN SUPPORT
* Modern graphics techniques like HDR and PPMB
* Server browser
* Anti-rape: stop people from raping at a base in an APC for the whole map
* Add reliability
* Fix the game

A quick look over at the official EA forums reveals just how shit EA are at dealing with issues in their software and complaints from users. They are letting users run around with these signatures on all their posts:

I think EA/DICE need to get their act together, and QUICKLY.

Yup, all needed. Ironically it would nearly all be there if on Steam. And VALVe would make sure the rest was added. Stupid EA.

ROFL at those sigs, too true. Though I think the problems are EA and not Dice, cos Dice have produced excellent games in the past.

It's crazy. How long has that Karkand Hotel glitch been around? Months and months. If EA were anything like VALVe, the problem would be fixed as soon as it was reported.

Yeah, well EA have tried to copy it, but failed badly. Steam is a masterpeice of inginuity.

Oh, and hat article is wrong, Defcon is not a sequel to Darwinia, just a different game by the same people (who rule, btw).

It's a completely different game. Darwinia is about evoloution, whereas Defcon is about blasting the hell out of the enemy before they do it to you.

It's a good patch, and there are many improvements. I haven't had the game crash to desktop yet, and all the server information is actually retrieved. Oh, and they fixed server filters in the server browser again. A *lot* of people were complaining through the in-game chat that the game feels even more laggy, though I obviously wouldn't experience this because my machine pwns.

Hmm, I'll go and download it, I hope it isn't too big as the EA servers suck!
