Hey guys. Just thought I'd let you all know that I'm planning to place some extreme watercooling in to my system (decided now that I do not like such fluctuating temperatures and volumes) ... I thought I'd keep this topic here to keep you all updated on the progress I've made, and how it's gone, and more importantly, the bits that I do that you should probably never do. Photo's to be included. Cheers.

Cool. Do you know what kit you'll be using. I've read a lot of good things about Astek Waterchill kits, for high end cooling, and the recent Swiftech kits for begginers.

I'll probably be going with a Danger Den kit. They're very highly rated. There website shows a lot of their products and what they are about (watercooling enthusiasts/experts): http://www.dangerden.com/
I'm thinking of getting a bundle pack, but doing a slight upgrade on some of the components.

Yeah, Danger Den are good. I was looking at getting watercooling from them at one point, but I can't afford watercooling at this point.

That's most peoples problem. It is going to be pretty expensive, since doing the upgrades of the components pumps up the price a lot... Sometimes the bundles don't come with everything you'd like, basically. I'll probably limit myself to ?300, probably.

Anyway, this was the bundle I was looking at:

1x Danger Den Maze4 Lucite Top
1x Maze4 Acetal GPU Block
1x Maze4 Chipset Block Lucite Top
1x ThermoChill 120.1
1x 120mm Xinruilian Fan
1x Eheim 1250 Water Pump
1x 5.25 Bay-Res
9ft Tygon 1/2" ID Hose
12x Nylon Hose Clamps
1x Water Wetter
1x UV Florescent Water Dye (Green)

Roughly around ?230 for the bundle.

Looks good, though I'd get atleast a 2 fan radiator. Also, the GPU block only does the GPU and not the GDDR, IIRC.

Indeed. I can't fit a 2 fan radiator in mine, unfortunately... well, actually I could, but not in the place it's meant to go, so i wouldn't get the best performance out of it.

Don't know what the hell I was thinking. Just realised, I don't have any 120mm fan holes... I'll either have to drill one, which is a no go area, or I'll have to use a micro radiator. Otherwise, I'll have to use 2 micro radiators! What a bugger eh?

I thought the wavemaster had 120mm holes? Don't worry, cutting holes in your case isn't as hard as it sounds. I would put them in the top if I were you. It's easier if you can remove he panel, like on the Akasa Eclipse 62 (every panel comes off!)

I can't do the hole drilling method, since I wouldn't have enough room for the 5.25 res; I have 2 DVD drives, so I'd be cutting in to something...

I've revised a lot of the things now, with a bit of advice from yourself Mr. Grim...

The system will now use 3/8" ID (1/2" OD) tubing, rather than 1/2" ID tubing; this is because the radiator that will be used can only use 3/8" ID tubing... makes sense really... So I'll hopefully get the following:

Danger Den Maze4 Athlon64 Copper Block -- ?43.99 (with 3/8" barbs, at an extra cost -- ?3.38 )
Danger Den Maze4 GPU Chrome Block -- ?47.80 (with 3/8" fittings, a standard)
Danger Den Maze4 Chipset Block -- ?31.06 (with 3/8" fittings, a standard)
9ft of Tygon 3/8" ID Hose -- ?24.21
Eheim 1250 Pump -- ?47.99
Danger Den Single Bay 5.25" Reservoir -- ?22.99

Not sure about the additives yet, but I know I'll be getting the Water Wetter 50ml -- ?3.99 :P

Oh, and of course, the radiator, the most troublesome part!! It'll be the Swiftech Radbox, which costs ?50.30 for the lot (it's basically a 120.1 that sits outside the system, without looking too messy, but takes up quite a bit of room).

Well......... I'll let you know when I have the bits! Feel free to chuck in any advice/questions.

For your system I would seriously reccommend a dual 120mm radiator. I think you can buy the radbox seperate, but I don't know where. That way you could have the dual radiator of your choice, and it would be easy to mount.

Doing that would obstruct the ports on the back of my machine. I'll just use a higher CFM fan.

Okie dokie. I've just bought the Radbox without a radiator yet, so i can see for myself just how much room I have if I whack a dual 120 on there... I'll let you know how it goes. I'm also thinking... doing this will stop me from opening the case properly! ... Might have to clip off the case clips slightly... Hmm, nope, doesn't need much opening... Could be in luck!

// Edit: What teh hell am I thinking again!? (Gotta give me some credit here, I'm using my brain, or trying to, at 2:48, with no caffeine...)

OK, so I could just make the other 120mm fan go above the radbox connected fan! This might obstruct the PSU a little bit, but it's better than obstructing the connections below (I thought that if I used a 2x120mm radiator, I wouldn't be able to shove my DVI connector in!!)

Well... I'm glad I thought for a moment.

I wouldn't reccommend putting it next to the PSU - you'll end up sucking the PSU's hot air into the radiator. You might also have problems with the PSU cable.

It you mount the radioter over the PCI brakets, you vould put the radbox fan between the radbox and radiator, and the other fan on the other side of the radiator. As for the DVI connecter, does your card have 2 DVI, cos then you could just use the other port, that isn't obstructed by the radiator? All the other cables should be small enpugh to fit in.

As for opening the case, did you mean you wouldn't be able to slide the panel back eough to get it off? I don't think that will be a problem, but if it is, there are plenty of simple modifications you can do.

Just looking at holes on the back, noticing how obstructed any mount would be by my thumbscrews.

// Edit: again, after thinking, thank god for the little spacer jobbies.

// Edit: pictures...

[b:0032b9fbcb]And here's just a picture of the still quite messy innards of my puter[/b:0032b9fbcb]
I think the optical power cables need wrapping up a bit...

Yeah, you could probably use some small washers to move the radbox away from the thumscrews. You could also cut a bit out the radbox to give them space.

Out of interest, how far is the top of your graphics card from the top of your fan? I think you might be able to mount the top fan with it's extra 4cm ove the fan hole, and then the bottom fan lined up with the bottom of the fan, it might just miss the top of you gfx card. (Keep DVI in same place).

Also, how were you planning on mounting the radiator, with the extra bit (4cm) coming out towards you, or going over the moverboard ports?
