Not such a good thing...

If voltages need to be adjusted synchronously for the CPU and the RAM and 1.65v is the maximum, then boy are we in trouble! My RAM requires 1.9v and this is the same type of memory we are talking about (DDR3), so it's gonna be like 1066MHz maximum and 800MHz standard...

Could just be an early problem. I really doubt that this will be in the final thing.

Hah, brilliant.

Well, Anand from Anandtech was reporting that the memory controller was not good. Intel admitted also that it is not good. It makes you wonder if the Phenom 45nm DDR3 parts will be better than the Intel parts? AMD have done their integrated memory controller very well...

People will stick to Penryn if the voltages really are synchronous.

I also believe that, similar to today, running asynchronously will require more power and produce more heat. And in this case it won't split that heat between the CPU and the NB... it will all be on the CPU.

Perhaps to get around this, the extreme parts will be labelled as DDR3 1066MHz and the latency will be very low. Let's say the latency will be 4-4-4-12 on this part. That could be classed as an extreme memory module.
