UMMMM do any of u guys have a .exe running called NvCtrl.exe? I found it when my IE was trying to change my homepage automatically to About:Blank.

I looked for it and found it in C:WindowsSytem32. I then looked for it on the Windows Task Manager and there it was. This meant i couldnmt delete it. I believe it came in earlier when i was on playstation.com. I didnt downlaod it, but from the time of last modified that was the website i was on at the time. it is now telling me to get new virus updates and the like so i wont be on the net for a while. LOL!

You can get rid of this thing by using a good piece of Antivirus software, hopefully AVG Free Edition (available at free.grisoft.com) or if you have a paid solution, try getting the latest updates and try again.

You may even be able to remove this manually... You can probably do this by opening msconfig, and changing your startup to diagnostic mode, or just removing all the startup entries (take the tick out of all the boxes). This may cause some conflicts with drivers, so might show some dodgy effects, but at least it will stop the program from loading (with any luck), then just browse to %systemroot% and remove nvctrl.exe from there. Now go back in to msconfig and make sure you get a full startup with all the startup entries ticked; restart the computer and see what happens. Tell us too!

I think i got rid of it using the windows run thingy. i unchecked the boxes and deleted all relevant files completely. it seems to have gone now. But it only crops upo now about once in every 50 boot ups and itnever bothwers nething nemore.

LOL! Yeah! He still comes back everyso often! but i need a new hdd ide thingy to find out if hes gone for good! that PC is currently completely offline.
