For system builders only, but maybe if you purchased all the necessary parts alongside it, this could be yours within a week!!

Lol, bit expensive, isn't it? You'd be better off getting a dual PSU setup...

Oh no, I've realised in saying that, you will get two of THOSE to power your PC...

My parents would kill me if they saw the electricity bill after running recurring 3DMark06 tests for a weekend, or running SuperPi to 32M lol!

Anyway, turns out that I was one of the first / the first member of the public to find out about this card before it even appeared on Scan's product list page.. check out my email to Fuad Abazovic from The Inquirer (theinquirer.net) below:

[img:47d8e0f753]http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a324/azcn2503/fuad_email.jpg[/img:47d8e0f753]

Quarter of an hour later, the article appeared on The Inquirer's website, saying: [i:47d8e0f753]We have to thank the sharp eye of our reader for this one.[/i:47d8e0f753], Fuad is the man, I tell you.

Have you seen how long those GX2 cards are? I'd need to cut the hard drive bays out of my machine to fit one of those in there!

Currently the existing 'long' Quad-SLI compatible cards cannot be used by themselves, so you do actually need to buy 2 of them, which costs close to ?1000 just for graphics.

Scan are currently running a deal where you can get 2 of these cards, a very good Asus motherboard, an Akasa Eclipse case, 2 dayglo SATA2 cables and the tagan 900W Turbojet for just under ?1500, which I do believe is an absolute freakin bargain!

Then of course you'll need one monster of a processor (Athlon FX-60), but even then, you'll be CPU restricted.

When we see FX-62, we may start to see some more improvements other than just .2GHz up the scale and the unlocked multiplier, as usual. We may instead start to see some large L3 cache's (according to Charlie at The Inquirer) -- this mainly to compete against Intel's up and coming Conroe. TBH I don't think AMD have to worry about a thing - Intel's architecture is seriously going to restrict it when they go to 4-cored and 8-cored CPU's, whereas in AMD's processors, and because of the way that nearly everything is operating at the CPU clock, they are going to be screaming ahead!

But do you see the problem at the moment? We can put up to 4 GPU's in our machines, but only 2 CPU's at the most? I'm yet to see a Quad-SLI capable dual-core dual-socket S939 machine...

I'm waiting for Socket AM2, DDR2 and L3 :?)

... Then again, as for Intel not being successful, it only takes a few months of Intel being the performance leader again for them to get all their business back from the likes of the noob enthusiast.

Back to the subject of the 7950GX2's anyway :P
