lol well when revising today i started to smell the desinctev smell of burnt sillicon and circuit bored so i swiftly desided to pull the plug on all electrical eqipment and investigate .... my final diagnosis was it was deff my main big blue tower and that it was most probably the system chip fan failed and let the chip over heat as i already knew that the fan had been playing up so now iv got a nice burnt smell filling my room and not sure wha the plan is with the comp lol for now im just leaving it all unpluged. not sure wha the next step will be as yet ( mite need to do some testing ) but prity sure its not overly damaged yet but need to sort out the cooling before i go onto checking how much life she has in her lol so this could b expensive lol

I love that smell. A server blew up at work when I was on holiday. When I came back I commented on the awesome and lovely smell in the cupboard. They told me the server blew up and that the fire brigade were called out, bashed down the server room door, etc. and I didn't believe them until I saw the damage for myself. I think the reason it smelt so good was because it was an ATI chip. Dell PowerEdge 1650's had a well known problems with the ATI on-board chips.

Hehe, yup, it triggered a fire alarm at about 2am.

lol luckerly 4 me mine was only just geting to hot n there wernt no fire or smoke ( tha nk god lol )
still not got round to assessing if its is fixable easily or if it s more of a replace cooling or the much worce replace all sinario
