Ohh no not stickers?

Lol. Sounded like they give you the best deal/most helpful deal anyway from what you told me.

The stickers annoy me too, but I just live with it.

Keep your eyes on this on 12th:

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/sho ... p?t=198045

I'd imagine this is where the first 'release day' review will be.

I'm planning on taking my lunch at 2:30 tomorrow so that I can read the reviews for half an hour, then spend the last half an hour making sure I have everything in my shopping basket before making the plunge (£2k).

Mmm.. I like the black back side.

Update: http://www.techpowerup.com/68184/First_ ... ppear.html - the comments on here are saying that the reviews are released at 05:01 tomorrow morning, so I'll read the reviews in the train station, on the train, on the way to work and at work, all morning until I finally buy it. Then I'll read some more.

Update 2: http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?optio ... 1&Itemid=1 has some noodz of the MSI 4870X2

Well... At 05:01 this morning, the 4870X2 and the 4850X2 were released together!
... I'll give more info soon; I am in train station on iPhone right now and it's difficult to type when you are this excited!

Update:

Basically, the 4870X2 whoops everything. It absolutely obliterates the GTX280 in almost all games. The exception is really Crysis, where it still falls behind as the preview hardware did.

The amazing thing about this card is the following:

Image

So the owners of this card will get a huge increase in performance at some point in the future with a driver update. TechPowerUp basically said that this interconnect of 5Gbps bi-directional is not in use because that amount of bandwidth is apparently not required...

I mean 160FPS in FEAR at 2560x1600 with all settings maxed... you can't really complain.

The card is $549. It is quite expensive, more expensive than the GTX280.

But the GTX280 sucks up to this behemoth.

I'm getting 2 as soon as OCUK pull their finger out.

Just to finish this post off as only an ATI fanboy could put it:

Nvidia, you just got pwnt.

Yeehaa!!

Overclockers UK have listed the 4870X2 now. From HIS, PowerColor and Sapphire.

But the price is edging £400. I don't care. I'm getting 2.

Update: I can't buy it. I'm not allowed. I was buying on a Buy Now Pay 6 Months Later agreement. The credit agreement was refused so I have to wait 6 weeks before buying now.

Is that 6 weeks thing the site refusing to sell to you or something?

Very good graphics, though, more expensive than I expected.

EDIT: That review is interesting for including benchmarks with one chip disabled - it's still significantly faster than the standard 4870, so a 1GB 4870 could definitely be worth it. I think this is why the original benchmarks of X2 over standard had some discrepancies - the standard has less RAM/core.

Hello ladies and gentlemen.

I have fixed my above situation, but my delivery date is no longer 16th, it will be 23rd.

KEEP YOUR EYE OUT! (Ouch)

LOL, cool.

I just thought, though, shouldn't these updates be in your other thread?

This is really interesting.

It looks like the 4870X2 pulls ahead of the GTX280 when running Crysis in DirectX 10 mode.

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2008/0 ... -4870-x2/6

But when running in DirectX 9 mode...

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2008/0 ... -4870-x2/7

It still wins.

Annoyingly, Crysis does not scale to 4 GPU's very well at all and in fact running with 2 4870X2's will make Crysis run slower than with the 2 GPU's.
