I'm not sure about the backwards compatibility of the PS3. Apparently there's a software and hardware version of it (where they basically put a PS2 in it aswell), and they're both not too good, though it could have improved since I heard about it. There may also be consoles which don't feature it at all.

Any new 40GB PS3 in the UK will have no backwards compatibility.

That's a pretty silly move on Sony's part, unless the idea is to sell both consoles

WHA! they lied. no point in telling people that it will be backwards compatibale and then not successfully manage to do it. Like the controller, heres the new slick silver controler.....no wait lets be unorginal and do that badly as well. Do all games use the sixaxis and if so does it encorpate them adequatley?

Yeah some games use Sixaxis quite well Grand Theft Auto 4 is pretty good, Mirrors Edge is going to be good, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune also uses it quite well for the balancing system.

One strange thing about the sixaxis (other than the fact they annoced it quite soon after the Wiimote...) is that they originally said that they couldn't do force feedback because of the motion sensors, but have now released a force feedback version of the sixaxis.

Yeah they ironed out the problems they were having. The vibration was mucking up with the motion detection. The Dual Shock 3 is the new version of the controller which features vibration/rumble support and Sixaxis.
