I can guarantee that the upcoming 8800GT (due for release on Monday 29th) will be card of the year. I've heard that it will come in up to 9 flavours.

There will be the reference models, the overclocked models, the value models (running at slightly lower clocks, probably with 256MB of memory but maybe 512MB still), and the native HDMI model.

The 8800GT outperforms all the 8800GTS cards and the HD2900XT, and costs around £175. You can SLI these cards together, but not Tri-SLI them - that's locked for GTX and Ultra owners only.

Awww, damn, my 8800GTS is already out of date, ah well, it does the job. These cards look pretty sweet, actually.

Looks like they are having trouble sending out the chips, and there is a shortage at the moment. Some of the 8800GT cards outperform the 8800GTX reference boards.

I've heard they can be overclocked to above Ultra speeds....

I can't imagine what sort of temperature it would reach though :S
They run at almost 70C with standard clocks.

Sure, you'd have an 8800GT running at 8800U speeds, but it would never match the performance due to the memory bus interface being 256-bit instead of 384-bit, and the memory latency is higher anyway. I'm one of those mad folk that would rather buy the most expensive card and save loads of hassle.

By U speeds I mean actual performance, not just clock speed, apparently. Still, it's awesome performance for what it is.
