long time no talk about relevant stuff from me but recently after updateing my screen and to windows 7 cause well i felt like it my computer is starting to show its ages, having v little real knoledge of whos wining in ati v nvid or intel v amd i though some of u may have sugestions of what sorta thing i should get . so yeah basicly looking for:

a mother board ,
processor,
ram ,
graphics card(s?).
sound card,
hard drive,
case,
cooling,
pw suply,
optical drive,
wireless nework card,
further accessorys to make it all work
( anything i mite of missed )
and operating system of cource lol

the keen eye my see this as prity much everyhing in a computer (but ud b wrong cause i dnt need screws lol) but then all my kit is on the old side and some showing its age in the worced ways so tbh its needed. high performance needed with a good life time . finaly budget , as a starting budget its just got to be less than £1000 but thats v likely to go down so the cheaper it is the better , planing to build around christmas time i think if i can keep my money till then.

lol sound card is dieing and em sheild failing some wat, pluse basicly just building new rather than editing mine so i can pass it on to some 1 who needs a comp,

lol il only go with alienware if it cheaper than the same spec home build , there good but i cant see the reason to spend more on a job i can do myself

ATI are better value for cards atm than nvidia. Dunno about other parts and I've always used onboard sound so :>. Never seen any reason to get a new one

lol dno y i just dnt like using them, theres no real major advantage unless u have highly tuned ears , do sound eng work , or just need that tiny extra bit of juce form the processor and memory. you say ai beter value do u mean just cheaper of the to of he range being better for the same sort of price ?

Any quad core, depending on budget (apparently the AMD ones are good too).

Heh, that's a pretty good kit, will be very good. Personally, I'd up the graphics, for system balance purposes, or down something else.

You can get Win 7 cheaper than that. Check if your uni has MSDNAA (free) or use this (you will need a legit key for XP or Vista to use it).

You could quite happily drop the i7 and still be very happy.

The wireless card is also a bit overkill unless you have a wireless n router.

problem is iv already dun the win 7 deal for this comp dno if i cn do it again , n i do have wirless n router however amazing it seems lol

You should be able to use it again, I don't think it starts pestering you until youve used it a few more times.
