The map change delay needs to be fixed. People were on earlier (randomers) saying how it sucked and quite a few people left.

Additionally, another thing that causes bother is the maps. They need a clean out. Boxing is fun, but it should not be on the vote list. Same with maps such as Egypt v2, as that map is now an official one.

The time delay will be fixed when Si has finished exams. He does not know what is causing it (I think), so doesn't want to mess with it until he has the time.

As for maps, yeah, that's probably true.

As long as an admin is on, he can instantly switch the maps.

Not allowed to. It causes another delay in the server actually loading the map. Something like that.

It just shifts the delay to the "server changing level", where people are more likely to quit because they can't talk and it looks more like the server has crashed.

I don't mind waiting a bit, I would see it as a bonus to have some banter about the scores <3

Yeah, this only works if you manage to see the map vote and can switch the map totally before the server tries to at the end of the map. IE, you can't let the final game end...

Like Skillers said, it shunts the time delay elsewhere. Which is worse because people can't talk. I'm all for just waiting and seeing if we can fix it over the summer. Patience is a virtue, some people will have to learn.

I do think you someone should clean up the map list, or at least the rotation list

Somebody just take a quick 5 minutes to sort out map rotations and votes. Its a big issue that's easy to sort out.

The delay before map change is a small issue that is much harder to resolve. Most people have fun taunt killing anyways :P

There's around three times as many maps on the server as there are in that list. I have just gone through all of them.

KEY

Category 1 – map should remain on server and on rotation (rotation includes votes).

Category 2 – map should remain on the server for fun times perhaps, but should not be in rotation (or votes).

Category 3 – map should be expunged.

My opinions;

First, no maps will be removed. This is due to something Si is doing.

Second, the following maps should not be on rotation (from memory);
cp_2Skyscraper_b3
cp_cube_b15
cp_bestinclass_v2
(Maybe;
ctf_hallofdeath
ds_extractum
ds_mysticruins [the ds maps don't work properly, IIRC]
too)

These maps are either rubbish or silly. Might be some more, too, but I can't remember them.

pl_waste_b4 should be on rotation. It's a very good serious map.
The latest version of snaketemple should also be on rotation.

Something Si is doing?

And waste b4 was in the wrong place, I have moved it.

As for the others, from an overview, the maps did not seem so bad. Hall of Death is fun, and I don't think that would be so bad on rotation.

To do with the new site.

Skyscraper is terrible.
cube and bestinclass are both silly maps
The ds maps, IIRC, don't work properly and confuse players.
Hallofdeath doesn't work well most of the time.

I agree with Skillers... Cube should NOT be on the rotation.

Also, I do not think Lazytown should be on rotation, when Busytown is ALSO on rotation.

The map CTF_2Fort should not be on rotation, its clearly badly made and full of lame.

They are both different maps (of quite similar layout) made by different people. I say let them both stay, I happen to like them both.

I personally much prefer db_heights, it's actually modified to a much greater extent than the plain pl. Possibley remove the plain one.

I find cliffhanger pretty fun (it just has a stupid cart). Awesome is a bit silly.

pl_awesome is just really unbalanced and has more issues

- Defending team is staying at the top, they can easily defend with
- The Cart just starts floating in the air, no way to cap.
- defending team takes damage while leaving spawn

and still, players said "This map is shit" or "This map is a pile of poo".

and well pl_cliffhanger...1st: it makes me lag.
But also a lot of people said its crap.
