Gordan Freeman has only smashed some headcrabs with his crowbar, Link and his descendants have all saved the world at one time with various weapons that aren't actually weapons, for example the <LOOK MA, I AM SWEARING> boomerang, link killed big-ass beasties with what is essentially a kids toy, i tried to kill David with a boomerang once, it's hard work man! and a sling shot, and f.ucking (Deku) Sticks, have you ever tried to kill something bigger than yourself with a stick, it's REEELLLY hard, and this is all as a <LOOK MA, I AM SWEARING> child, gordon was a fully grown man when he picked up his crowbar.

In summery it must be obvious that link(s) are the true hero(s), their entire family line has been plagued by tragedies, forced to fight monsters that dwell inside living beings (see the deku tree and jabu-jabu) while they are about eight or nine years old, then having their entire adolescence taken from them so they can grow up and wield a sword, seven years taken from your life just so you can hold a sword, and then you get denied the right to be the ultimate hero because some gotee-faced idiot figured out some physics puzzles and could hit stuff with a crowbar?
