Seems quite a few people are getting interested in this.

I played the trial once before, but did little.

Today however, I accomplished more in an hour than I did ever in the trial. And I actually found someone (schlurbi)!

The historic meeting:

You accomplished more in an hour? You must have done NOTHING in the trial before :P

Also, you found me and Wigo last time :(

Eve looks good, but I wish it was more of a space sim, and less space management game.

I never found you two last time to my knowledge.

And yes, I did do virtually nothing in the trial last time, except part of the tutorial, shooting a couple of training pirates.

I think remembering everything will be a real challenge, but the tutorial is at least quite thorough.

It's a good game, but it doesn't provide the level of depth and immersion that I am now used to.

The only thing that tempts me with EVE is that it appears to have more depth than most other released massively multiplayer online games.

I don't know about other massively multiplayer online games, I know they do obviously have back-stories, etcetera. EVE has no shortage of this either.

@Met, I'm pretty sure you did. I do remember a "Praetor Bael".

@Aaron - I lol'd. Seriously, the depth of EvE surpasses every MMO out there. There is so much there, and so much player interaction available. It's just difficult to get in to.

@Dragon - Eve has a MASSIVE backstory, along with loads of player created history and plenty of official stories in the universe.

I have a couple of friends playing this at the moment trying to persuade me into it. I dunno I might give it a trial and see how it goes.

Seems good that you don't have to be spending all your time in-game to become good, unlike the grinding of WoW.

Definitely not me, my only character on there before now was Metritutus.

If I recall correctly, isn't EVE's economy almost completely run by the players?

It looks like you learn skills, regardless of whether you are in-game or not, you just have to choose what to learn. Something like that. I'm still new at this.

I'd swear you mentioned that name earlier :/ And I'm sure we met up with you.

And yes, pretty much everything is player driven, though the market/economy has some controls on it (the odd NPC trader and controlled flow of resources).

More player generated content there is for sure, but actual game there is not.

But if it makes people feel better, then...

EVE is a good game but [a reason that nobody will listen to because I play another MMO and you will think I am being biased and hate every other MMO]

Night.

I dont know if I will get a Subscription.

Everything is just about getting money. Then get a big ship. Get blown up. Get money again. And a new Ship.

you could argue a different form of the last sentence for every game xD.

I mean sure, tf2 is good. but why spend £20, you select a character, get killed. Spawn. Repeat. With a couple of extra variables.

Doesn't mean the game isn't worth it.

Also, don't play EVE. Never played any mmo or anything like it. Can't really judge an opinion on them therefore except monthly payments should be for room rent and phone bills only :P

I mostly agree with Wynney's last comment now. Me wants no subscription MMOs :(

But anyway, if you're just doing the get money -> ship cycle, you're missing out a huge part of the game.

Someone once said...

Buy an Eve sub, get a new ship, get owned by someone who has been playing longer than you and will always be better than you, rage quit, end subscription.
