Damn, it's awesome! It's absoloutly AWESOME!
For those who don't know what I'm on about, it's the HDR demo from Valve, for HL2. High Dynamic Range (HDR) is a technology that makes light look amazing (or should i say AWESOME). It adds bloom effects and better reflection to light, making it look a lot more natural. You have to play it to see what I mean!
Loast coast also has commentary and some information about cool gameplay stuff, such as cliffs and stuff, just play it with the commentary.
Oh, and I played it at absoloute max settings (1600x1200 resoloution), without a stutter!   Stuff Valve's min specs! (I only have 1.9GHz processor, minimum 2.2GHz). :D
And don't be scared - you can't be killed by Combine fire, but you can be killed by falling. See if you can get back to the fisherman at the end  .

It's pretty good. I expect we'll see it in a lot of upcoming titles, but if I had to name the most significant/best release ever, it'd be UT2007.

You like UT2007! i will agree with you that it's going to be a very significant release, encorperating extreme graphics effects and making use of the Physx processor.
I like the fact that Valve release these technologies in levels that are free for all. I also like the commentary, which shows you all the subtle effects, such as reflection and "pupil" effects, it makes a great introduction to HDR itself.
Also, it's a playable level (probably be better if the Combine could hurt you, but that's for the purpose of seeing all the effects), with some new gameplay elements, such as the cliffs.

Yeah, still using my 6800GT (which I can't OC cos I fried it :().
I've seen the crucified enemies glith, there's lots of combine spawned that don't move a bit - that's how they look in the model editor and stuff. I don't think they were programmed properly.

I thought the minimum specs were an Athlon 2800+, don't you have a 3000+?

I have a A64 3000+ running at 1.9GHz (default 1.8), the min specs state a 2.2GHz processor.

I have just checked the Steam news, and Lost Coast has apparantly had the crucified enemy glitch fixed. I haven't tested this yet though.

Hmm, might do. Then again that just might be yourself telling you its better, just cos everyone else thinks it is. It probably does look slightly better, though, as they are likely to update some of the stuff when they release new maps.
