Please do all of us a favour and remove the image checking script when submitting or previewing posts. The forum times out.

This is probably because the PHP script execution time is limited to something like 10 seconds and there isn't enough bandwidth on somebodys end to fulfil the request in time.

Easiest and best way to get around this is to remove the image checking script, it really makes my life difficult. I want this forum to have more images and image checking script is making the forum suck hard.

I'm not really sure how to disable it, but if I do, it means image sizes will go unchecked, and I don't particularly want that.

Any other opinions on this?

What file is it that handles files or posting ill just get php to extend the time that that script can execute in

Posting.php, I'd guess.

"The submitted form was invalid" only seems to occur when the forum's going slow, and is not related to the image checker.

The dimensions could not be recognised is, but I don't know why it can't do that. I think increasing the time may work.

It's in the php.ini probably in c:\php

Though like Skillers said it might be part of the forum script... I'd personally just turn it off ala phpBB2, it was much much better then.

The time is set to 90 seconds I remember setting it, but Id rather set it per page rather than system wide in case something goes wrong and it just takes forever leaking crap over my memory.

Well if you need to know what the name of the script is, I would guess it's posting.php, but may be another script. I'd just look at the file names, it should be fairly obvious, as they tend to name things pretty well, I think.

Not really, it runs slow randomly, not when someone is trying to post images.

On a more serious note, it does stop me from posting even regular images. It just randomly fails to pick up their location, or the script runs for too long and I get the WSOD.

Does it fail with just one image, or does it require more images before it fails?

I might consider removing the checker, but I do not want to as it means people will be able to post horribly large images.

But it is a requirement that I post horribly large images!!

Also, it depends. Sometimes it can be just one picture, and other times it's generally when including over 5 images.

It's a super-damper on my picture reviews, as in it makes them impossible. Image checker is sh*t and phpBB2 was better because it didn't have it. Nuff said.

These problems make me want to revert to phpBB2 as it was faster, or for ultimate simplicity custom design a forum again.

There are a lot of features of phpBB3 that I prefer, as do many users. I'll see if simon can find a script timeout fix for the images, if not, I'll turn it off.

I added phpBB3 to my list of bloatware a while back now

Well it's not really bloatware, that's stuff you don't want at all, but comes preinstalled. I agree it could be quicker, but I think it's fairly good myself.
